The Blues are winners because they just kicked the poop out of Calgary. Record close to best in the league. Nashville is a bunch of losers because they messed up their chemistry. They will lose to the Blues in the first round.

Talk about your ugly first round matchup. Sucks for both of those teams to be playing each other.

What about the Ruutu deal? Or the Gleason deal? You don't find those a bit steep? - whosyodaddy
Ruutu a little. Gleason not at all.
Truthfully I'd rather overpay a little for Ruutu than overpay for a guy like Micheal Ryder. At least with Ruutu you know that even if you don't get the points from him, you're still going to get a hard, consistent effort.
Today proved that NOBODY has inside sources to these trades. - WayneGretzky
Well its already proven that dreger is like bum buddies with Dave Nonis.... and those guys from TSN know people and talk to some of these GM's on a regular basis.
MacKenzie knew Canucks had a deal in the works... its not easy to know exact players names before the deal has been sent into the league for approval but they defintely have people on the inside. Some do at least.

You'll soon get to see what Canuck fans were so excited about with Cody. He's a very smart player with a good skill set. Canuck fans have been enamoured with this guy since he was drafted.
I haven't seen the city so pissed about a trade since Linden was shipped out, and we made off like bandits that time. - whosyodaddy
This ^^
Whats going on here is that our division rivals are jealous of the Cody Hodgson deal and the fact we got a 1st for Goose to boot.
That gives us 2 1st's 2 2nd's , If I am not mistaken the Sabres have 4 of the first 40 picks in the upcoming draft.
Those picks coupled with Roy/Leopold/Sekera gives Darcy a ton of flexibility for trading up in the draft to get the guy we want.
We have forwards Marcus Folgno C.Tropp and defenseman B.Mcnabb waiting in the wings to come up and assume the skill and grit we lost in Goose and which made Kassian expendable in the end.
Kassians legend is bigger than his game like Rob Ray said when interviewed yetserday with the lack of intensity he sees missing with Kassian, to quote Ray "you either have it or you dont".
At the end of the day, good 1st and 2nd line centers are the hardest position to acquire or find right behind goaltenders.
Dacry did a great job yesterday and has put us un a great position heading into the off season for sure.
I can now see the 3 year plan coming into light and I can also see Z.Parise in a Buffalo Sabres uniform next October.
Terry Pegula's plan is coming together whether we make or miss the playoffs this year.
I am an excited Sabres fan especially seeing the rest of our division did nothing yesterday!

Messed up their chemistry?
Huh?
Make no mistake Blues fan , Nashville got better yesterday with Goose anchoring their 3rd or 4th line up the gut , defensively by far with Goose.
Goose was one the best PK'ers on the Sabres and one of the best faceoff men in the league.
Goose is not a player that will screw up any teams chemistry , you could not be any more wrong with that assumption.

I question whether there are any winners from this day.
Nashville did the most but Ak46, Gill and Gaustad for a 1st, two 2nd, Geoffrion, etc....is an overpayment on all players.
Buffalo did great in the Gaustad trade and yes they got the best player in the deal in Hodgson but this season and for many seasons before it we've eben hearing them complain about being too small and soft so they dealt Kassian. Buffalo did do well but a winner, I'm not so sure.
I know I will get flak for this but I say the NYR did extremely well. You know they are going to build for the East and go against Boston so thy tried to get a player they hope will neutralize the intimidation of Chara. Not a winner because no way Scott can make a team a winner but they took a very very minor step to help build confidence for their team.

Buffalo fans that dont know what they are talking about talk about being to "small and soft".
Buffalo has players in defenseman Brayden Mcnabb (6'5" 200lb 21 year old) who will be a dman to pair with Myers for years to come and he can toss em, he can score , Mcnabb is the real deal and he will be on the Sabres roster full time nest season.
Marcus Foligno (6'1" 205 lb 20 year old left winger) has a ton of grit and will be on the Sabres roster next season as well .
Cory Tropp only (5'11"190 lb 22 year old right winger) that plays much bigger than that and is the meaning of the word "grit" !
And this is not to say with the plethora and wealth of 1st and 2nd round picks combined with roster players like Roy/Leopold/Sekera that we cant even get bigger yet come free agency and my guess is we will.
I know you are not a Sabres fan so you probably dont know these things but some fans are just so narrow minded and can not look beyond today.
The Sabres by far got better with Cody Hodgson for today and the future.
#1 and #2 centers like CoHo do not grow on trees.
Welcome to Buffalo CoHo and hope fully a Cup in the near future!
I will say once again, I can surely see the "3 year plan" coming together!
The Sabres and Darcy won "deadline day" which I would bet is driving B.Burke out of his fricking mind.
