asper Denver Post - McGinn wont make it for tonites game, but Mueller is in and so is Hejduk
wonder what the lines will be for tonite? - 10baci
I would say...
Mueller - Duchene - Hejduk
Landeskog - O'Reilly - Downie
Olver - Stastny - Jones
McLeod - McClement - Kobasew
? That's what I would do, anyways... |

If Mueller isnt ready, why risk it? Off all the guys in the NHL that you need to treat with care - he's IT ! !
when he's healthy he's great with Duchene - but not healthy??? not so sure
either way, go avs go |

As long as my boy K-port is wearing a suit during the game, I am good to go. At least Kobasew knows how to properly trip a guy without breaking his leg and getting a fine. |

I agree actually.. Looks like Hejduk is back with Stastny and Duchene.. But I am out spoken about wanting Duchene back at center.
What do you think it looks like with McGinn? Looks like Cody Mac could be scratched and Olver moved to the 4th line.. (When McGinn gets here obviously)
Mueller - Duchene - Hejduk
McGinn - Stastny - Jones
Olver - McC - Kobasew..? |

Not a huge deal, but these are the kind of trades that set up your team for the future. The Avs staff has been on a winning streak since the day they drafted Duchene and the Redwings whiffed on O'Reilly dropping him in the Avs' lap. First they got bigger on defense (O'Byrne, Hejda, O'Brien) then came last season's trade for Johnson, McClement and Seimens which will go down as a steal before its over. The Quincey for Downey trade was slick. And now the Avs give up two players who would not be here next year anyway, and get a big, young forward with sand and some offensive upside and two decent prospects for the future. The good news was that the Avs didn't tank the season by dumping Giguerre or Stastny. Interesting how they apparently kept McLeod. All of a sudden the Avs are getting tough for the first time in years. |

I have to say I like the identity of this team.. We have not lost any of our speed and run and gun style.. While still becoming bigger and better defensively and tougher to play against. It's a good recipe for success in the playoffs and for staying healthier through out the season. |

Olver - McC - Kobasew..? - Steve-B
Maybe something like this:
O'Reilly - Landeskog - Downie
Stastny - Hejduk - Jones
Duchene - Mueller/Olver - McGinn
McClement - Kobasew - McLeod/Porter/VDG

Stastny centering Olver and Hejduk
Duchene centering Mueller and Jones
JayMac centering Mcleod and Kobi

Personally, I'd keep Olver in over McLeod. He's playing well... |

So... we're agreed right? Duchene back to center?
Personally, I do this:
Jones-Stastny-Hejduk- good chemistry earlier and Hejduk, stastny great together
Mueller-Duchene-Olver- Scrappy Olver to get into spots, get the puck loose and feed it to those. Yes
Landeskog-O'Reilly-Downie- can play against any line and still score. Win.
McLeod-McClement-McGinn- Hits, defense, grit, toughness. Yes please. McGinn might move up in a few years but start him on fourth line.
For tonight it will be McLeod-McClement-McKobasew (any player there gets a Mc before their name. Porter becomes a McDonalds steak, called a McPorter)
All in all... MOVE DUCHENE BACK TO CENTER |

Yeah I would have to agree on Olver vs Cody especially with Downie + McGinn in the lineup. McGinn could be really good with Duchene + Mueller as well.
Olver deserves better than the 4th line but Jones - Stastny - Hejduk has worked as well. Some tough line decisions for the coach once McGinn arrives. It's a good thing though.. Hejduk unfortunately puts us in a precarious position not playing well and being the captain.
At the same time being with Mueller + Duchene could spark Hejduk.. It's so hard to tell..
I want to know wtf the lines are tonight so bad just because of the possibility of Duchene + Mueller.

I like that.. That 4th line is brutal but yeah long term it's hard to see McGinn on the 4th line. Seems like he at least deserves top 9 minutes. At the same time McC's offense is a little under rated.. Crazy but good crazy.
This is so good that we are deep enough top 9 guys are forced to be on the 4th line. This sets us up to sign UFAs as well as Hejduk retiring.. |

Olver plays way too big for his size. I suspect he'll be out with an injury sooner rather than later. He and Mueller might take turns being on IR.

Mueller was originally ruled out of tonights lineup - as a healthy scratch because Sacco is dumb - but he will play because we need bodies.
Bottom line: Mueller is healthy and ready to go. Hopefully he is on Dutch's wing. |

I honestly think the team may have been letting Mueller work out and condition himself until the roster expands after the deadline.
Now they don't have to lose anyone to waivers. Although I don't really care about losing McPorter..
Next year.. Lmao, I can't help myself..
Parise - Stastny - Jones
McGinn - Duchene - Mueller
Landy - O'Reilly - Downie
CodyMac/Kobasew - McC - Olver
Scary..
3 lines with the potential to put up more than 150+ points combined while being tough to play against. As well as still being fast as hell and young..
lol with that we don't even need a 4th line after you split up Ice time.. Could be unbelievable.. Top line has 200+ point potential.. |

I'd be happy if that were the case on Mueller.
And that line up is nasty. Not only high scoring and fast, but also way tougher than the Avs of the past. |

I dunno it just disappeared... this is why I write in word usually.
Might redo but I don't want to step on Eric Smith's toes. Might see it in the Hot Stove though |

McGinn has great speed and hits VERY hard. Very gritty player, but he also takes dumb penalties (roughing, boarding, etc.)
He doesn't have the best hands, but he does have a nice shot.
He gets caught up the ice a lot trying to make the big hit on the forecheck, watch out for his neutral zone/d zone play, not the best for a "shut down" line.
This season his play improved greatly playing along side Michal Handzus. I think he learned a lot from Zus about his role, and they had some decent chemistry at times.
He and Logan Couture are butt buddies, so I'm curious to see how depressed they are both going to be over this. - mxgsfmdpx

We shouldn't downplay the loss of Galiardi and Winnik. They will be missed, on the ice and in the dressing room.
Luckily we got a good player in return.
Here's hoping that San Jose wins the cup this year--I'd really like to see it work out for Gali and Winnik. |
