Yeah but tell that to Vancouver fans who say Hodgson> eberle... that one is always good for a chuckle... but that is what they say... - saskoil21
That's the same as Leaf trolls saying Kadri > Hall. It really means nothing. |

Interesting trade as it's just soft offensive Gilbert who is 29 to Minne for tough defensive Schultz who is 29. Does that mean Edm thinks Petry has made Gilbert tradeable? What does the addition of Schultz mean to Peckham, Barker. This is definatly a message trade to the players.
As for the fan whining that Schultz is Minne's #5 defenseman????/ Watch hockey much? Good trade for both teams and Edmontons defense just got a touch more solid. - longbottom
Well he did play the 5th most minutes per game of Wild defenders..... |

I think it means nothing to Barker as Barker is most likely gone regardless. The one thing it does do for him is brings him up a notch on the PMD and he'll get another shot.
As for Peckham I don't know. He needs to bust his ass down the stretch. Sutton's signing really hurt him. |

Oh you fact-based fool!

Hodgson was suppose to win the Calder every year since he was drafted. I'd almost like to see it happen now that he isn't a Nuck |

Petry is almost to Gilbert's level but comes at a $3,000,000 discount. He'll get a raise in the off season but I can't imagine it exceeding $2,000,000. |

If he keeps playing well he will get 2.5 to 3 for 4. Thats my guess, most top four get around that. |

And since Spurgeon had the most he is clearly their #1 guy |

I dunno if he will. If he had this development last year and carried it into this season, definitely. But ready only the second half of this season is where he really started to come around. Regardless, cheaper than Gilbert. |

Kind of hard to argue otherwise, don't you think?
I mean for the most part you would think coaches would play the guy that gives them the best chance to win.... the most. |

Yeah but if he plays lots of mins for the Oilers, he will want what the other guys are getting, at least his agent will. |

So when Belanger plays heavier minutes than Hall and Eberle that makes him better. Okay I get your line of reasoning. |

It was said Schultz didn't play the PP at all so maybe that had some bearing, but not much. |

Like I said when he plays one game for us everybody will love him. hes a solid top4 who can play 20+ mins a night. and can shut down the the best in the game. Hes J smith, not as gritty. |

Correct. But some feel that ice time = depth chart.
BTW Shawn Horcoff is our best forward |

Honestly Minny appears to use 3 pairing with quite equal time. Add the injuries in there and it misses things up.
The fact remains that on a lot of nights he plays north of 20 minutes.
Also if he is a #5, Potter is our #4. |

Are they even close to the same? Gator couldn't skate or handle the puck worth poop. Schultz doesn't hit, if he can't skate or handle the puck we have Semenov on our hands again. |

Better?
Right now is Belanger a "better" NHLer than Hall & Eberle.
Maybe not for a long time, but now, yes.
Now, if you get H&E the right match-up, the right situation, they'll kill it,
I can't think of a situation where Belanger will kill it. |
