Did we trade for Shea Weber yet? - robin_steele264

Why not call Phoenix and see which of their dmen are actually available.... |

@TSNRyanRishaug: Oilers had interest in Aulie, but Burke was set on Ashton from Tampa. They definitely inquired about the big defender. |

I like Ryan Whitney and all but he's probably never gonna be the player he was when he first started here. I don't think it's worth giving up Gilbert who plays a lOt of minutes to rely on Whitney to be a little above average with the ability he has left. |

gilbert is NOT our best d man. Whitney is.
Gilbert was the Oilers best d-man.
As for Whitney getting better, did you see Phoenix' second goal on Saturday? |

I see CGY has their priorities in tack today. Extending Jackman to a two year deal. |

Hes been better but hardly our best dman. Just go talk about trading for Nash or something. This is a smart trade. |

We will see when Schultz +- goes into the negative huge when he has to play infront of ReKhab and Dubnyk instead of Backstrom. Schultz was the wilds #5 defenseman while Gilbert was on our top pair with Smid. And looking at Minnies D this year, they weren't any better than ours infact may be even worse. |

They seem torn as Oiler fans are. I'd be pissed if I was a Wild fan. Comments at the bottom show they are split. http://www.startribune.co...orts/blogs/140590313.html
We just got a big time leader in the dressing room and an unreal defensive defenseman who blocks shots in exchange for a guy who is incredibly irresponsible with the puck and has a better, more physical version replacing him in Petry. Tambo moves up my books for this move. |

Nick Schultz was not #5 for the Wild, that is both inaccurate and stupid. Who was ahead of him?
Spurgeon? No he's a PP quarterback and nothing else. MAB 2.0
Falk? No he belongs in the AHL
Zanon? Well he got traded today too
Scandella? No not yet
Prosser? No chance
Lundin? Absolutely not
Stoner? HA.
It was the Wild's best defenceman and team leader. He will be a perfect fit with the Oilers.

And the good news is that Hall or Eberle can sit in the high slot in the Wild's zone and Gilbert will still be hitting them with passes. |

For Hodgeson - spawnofbettman
Interesting move to be honest. Does VAN think Kassian can play now because he wasn't exactly an everyday NHLer on a lessor team. |

And it looks like Barker and Peckham are still on the team... (frank) |

Is everyone forgetting that Tom Gilbert was more often than not a turnover machine and as intimidating as hemsky (physically). It's not like this'll make or break us |

This year he worked on things... and was not what he was historically... |

Quality competition says otherwise. 6th most difficult competition with the 3rd best teammates by Wild Defenders this season. He is a defensive defenseman who has been on the decline for the past 3-4 years. While Gilbert is a puck moving defenseman who is on the upswing for the past couple seasons. |
