I love this deal!
Gilbert was a complete waste of cap space and until this season was one of our worst dman.
Schultz is a more complete player all around.
The extra bonus is there is one less Oiler killer we have to worry about..

Not better in his own end. This isn't a bad trade at all.

I've always liked Schultz, but giving up NHL level defenseman isn't a great idea for this team. I would have rather traded Whitney, whose barely top four.

The reason he has those giveaways is he is the guy who has the puck the most and does most of the zone clearing. If you had Potter clearing the zone or touching the puck as much as gilbert he would have 3 times the giveaways.

We should have looked at trading our 2nd and Peckham for Schultz if we had to have him. Don't trade our best defenseman for him.

Minne doesn't make that trade for anything less than Gilbert considering he was Minne's best P/King dman.
