Puck movers now include Petry, Whitney and Potter.

So the Oilers right side D now features:
- a cripple
- a kid [ how many double-ewes in Ups and Downs?]
- a career AHLer

That'll look good next February.

What's the record for most Top-5 picks in a row?

I love this deal!
Gilbert was a complete waste of cap space and until this season was one of our worst dman.
Schultz is a more complete player all around.
The extra bonus is there is one less Oiler killer we have to worry about..

Might as well keep him. Getting pennies on the dollar is no good.

I think he is playing great as of late... Someone would definitely benefit for the playoffs...

You do know that other trades can happen from now until the start of the 12-13 year

I hear that former 3rd Overall pick, Cam Barker will be available.
Like Schultz, he's big.

For the record, Schultz is fine
But Gilbert is better and
The Oilers need to add.
ADD
The 29th overall team needs to add.

Not better in his own end. This isn't a bad trade at all.

I've always liked Schultz, but giving up NHL level defenseman isn't a great idea for this team. I would have rather traded Whitney, whose barely top four.
- Jack-artist

wow... this takes the cake as dumbest comment ive read so far.
remember whitney is the guy we got for vishnovsky. now you want to get rid of whitney for a mid tier guy? again. wow...

Terrible trade. Guys like Gilbert are hard to find. Just cause a guy like Gilbert has lots of giveaways doesn't make him bad. The reason he has those giveaways is he is the guy who has the puck the most and does most of the zone clearing. If you had Potter clearing the zone or touching the puck as much as gilbert he would have 3 times the giveaways.

We should have looked at trading our 2nd and Peckham for Schultz if we had to have him. Don't trade our best defenseman for him.

gilbert is NOT our best d man. Whitney is.
In fact, i would rate Smid above gilbert and petry will become gilbert (if he hasnt already) very soon. petry is up and coming

Minne doesn't make that trade for anything less than Gilbert considering he was Minne's best P/King dman.

Whitney hasn't had all that many games that he's looked like our best d-man.

I absolutely love this trade. I understand why some are skeptical, but I think your all going to appreciate this trade real soon.

You just added one of the best leaders in the game to our d-core.

Sure, but by no means has he been our best defender this year. Not even close.

right, b/c you are saying whitney missed some game due to injury and looked average/tentative since his return a while back.
look at the way whiteny has played lately, much better.
i expect this from him going forward, much like Hemsky

I always wonder why people bring this up, just because players play a different style doesn't mean you can't compare them.

Stamkos plays a different style then Steven Ott, but that doens't mean you can't say Stamkos >> Ott.
