Oilers pairings going forward: Whitney-Schultz, Smid-Petry, Sutton-Potter. Gives shutdown guy and puck mover in each pairing...

In the summer, the copper and blue's Derek Zona speculated Schultz could be had for Smid and a 3rd.

Did we overpay?

- Morris

Zona has inside info now? Also Smid is probably just as valuable as Gilbert now.

Tampa has acquired Keith Aulie in exchange for Carter Ashton.

Did we miss out?

I'm assuming Pitlick is equal to Ashton. Which I would do.

Who do you give up. Ashton seems to still have a lot of value

Yeah. It would have been tough to anticipate the strides Smid has made this season. Probably worked out for the best.

Ashton might be a step up from Pitlick.

Hey you called me out and made a concrete, hyperbolic statement that not too many would agree with at this point.
- Jack-artist

OK there
Whitney is a legit Top 4 if not Top 2 and you think he won't an NHLer in 3 years and believe people will agree

By the way if they were to trade whitney as you suggest, who exactly makes a breakout pass for the oilers?

Super suprised and a bit dissapointed when I first heard but the more I think the more it makes sense. We had too many puck movers and not enough shutdown guys. The question is do you set up your lines to have an offensive paring of Whitney-Petry as well as a shutdown line of Smid-Shultz or do you switch it up? Don't think Tambo is done today yet, call it a hunch.

Both are Powerforwards picked near the same spot in the draft.

Ashton is just a year older which means he was a bit more polished.

I'm with Jack. Whitney has chronic foot problems and I dont think hell be playing after his contract is up.

Supposively and yet we can not make a pass out of our dzone when under pressure to save our lives... It would not hurt my feelings if the bulin wall is gone today... how much time is left for the TDL to end?

I agree with JA, I'd unload him this year, only I don't think we could get anything for him.

Might as well keep him. Getting pennies on the dollar is no good.
