Goose and a 4th for a 1st. Great deal for us. - keptupl8

They have a good mix of everything.
Their 3rd and 4th line role players are pretty much built through trades or FA signings, as well as a key D.... Boyle, Fedotenko, Rupp, Prust, McDonagh, Stralman
Homegrown offense and defense.... Callahan, Anisimov, Stepan, Dubinsky, Staal, Del Zotto, Hagelin
The biggest turnaround for the Rangers were the additions of Gaborik and Richards for scoring and Torts. Torts probably at more than 50% - theblueandgold
Well the point being what it would take to get Nash would severely disrupt what they have built, and IMO not worth it. Not to mention the cap space that would take away from signing guys like Anisimov. |

So we get a 1st rounder but.. but basically just told the lockerroom to stop fighting for a playoff spot.
We just got majorly softer as a team as well.
I wonder how long Gaustad's shoulder will hold him out for Nashville. |

How foolish can it be? We're in 12th place in the East. We've had the same "core" for years and haven't won a playoff series since 2007. Its 2012 people. |

This road trip is a killer, .500 at best with or without Goose. That wouldnt be good enough to make the push to the playoffs. |

trades are still trickling in...I'm sure the blockbuster deal to get a top line center is just held up at the NHL's offices...I'm sure that's the case...pretty sure...OK it's BS |

You misunderstood, Maguire said Darcy was foolish to think he could get a 1st rounder for Goose. Obviously Maguire is a douche and there is a reason his is commentating. |

We still have the same guys. |

Yeah, they also basically told the fans to stop caring for now as well. I feel likes its trade deadline 2003.
Team softer definitely. Toughness will have to be addressed in the off season. |

To me thats not what your statement said. You claimed they couldnt go back to their ways of acquiring the biggest names... Gaborik was one of the biggest FA's when he signed although he had injuries tagged on him, and Richards was hands down the biggest FA last year.
You also commented how they "finally built from within" which is sort of true. A lot of their top players are homegrown, but key 3rd/4th line and even some of their D are from trades/signings.
They didnt need Nash though, i agree with that. |

As I said Leafs deal was pending trade call. Leafs trade Dale Mitchell to the Ducks for Mark Fraser.

Trading Gaustad doesnt really do much about trading the core. We traded away one of our leaders and a solid 3rd line center.
Its unbelievable how you guys think a 20+ pick in this years first round is going to pay dividends starting next season.
Hilarious. |

The thing I'm most upset about is Boyes still being here
Homer (who I believe) said there was an offer on the table for him for a 3rd...
Wtf didn't he get moved?!
That's awful... |

Maybe we are just gonna use that 20+ pick in addition to a roster player to do something in July or at the draft.
We are still the same team we were just softer and without our best leader of F/Cs |

They've gotta be banking on the idea that Roy has a great contract year next year and has a high price again. |

It was reported that Gaustad and Darcy were talking contract. He didn't get one. So why not move him for the last month and a half of the season? If he just walked on 1 July, then people would be saying that we should have traded him.
