It might be ridiculous, but if I can't get a first for him, I'm not going to lose sleep if he doesn't get traded. A 2nd round pick is such a crapshoot. Plus, Darcy Regier once drafted Andrew Peters in the 2nd round. If he gets a 2nd for him, fine. If he doesn't, oh well. I'm not trying to defend Darcy Regier, but criticizing him for not trading Gaustad for a 2nd is like saying Sean Avery's a jackass because he shaves his head. It really doesn't mean anything in the grand scheme of things.

I agree that you don't take that deal. But when you set an unrealistic price like a 1st for a 3rd or 4th line guy I'm sure other teams just scoff at Darcy and go to plan B

To me there is no reason to trade him unless you get a 1st or a good young centre back. A 2nd does you nothing in my opinion, its a crap shoot at that time in the draft.

Until someone comes out and says I offered Schenn (or someone like that) for Gaustad and Darcy didnt take it then I cant be upset based on what the returns look like so far.
