That would be a terrible trade, but I'm sure it's true. GMs often try to fleece other teams when one team thinks/hopes the other is desperate.

If I were Holmgren, I'd make an immediate counter-offer of JVR and Bob for Logan Couture and Niemi. That one I'd do -- San Jose wouldn't.

would love to be a fly on the wall in Homer's office...well most GM's offices.

I don't buy that for a second. This is simply the calm before the storm... league wide.

The Flyers are ALWAYS looking to make moves and they currently have a ton of trading chips to make something happen, and they will.

- Flyers2821

I think that's what you WANT to happen. The Flyers finally have fantastic trading chips because Schenn, Couts, Reader, JVR, Jake etc... are fantastic players. Because other teams ask for them, why should the Flyers trade them? I personally feel the Flyers made their moves by getting Grossman and Kubina. I think Homer sees where that gets him this year and tinkers in the offseason accordingly.

Lots of guys went on waivers over the weekend.....be interesting to see how many are claimed. For once I'd like to see the Flyers stay around 48 contracts

Would open up some cap space for a checking line center as well. Not sure trading Carle jives with the Grossman, and Kubina trades, but I wouldn't be opposed to it.

Here is the problem I have with that.. The trade would likely be to a team like Detroit or another top 10 team.. that means the draft pick would be a later round pick. On top, the prospect likely wouldnt be a very good prospect but potentially a guy who has middling qualities.. like a future 3rd liner or 5-6 future dman.. not sure thats the right move.

The other issue is, that'd leave the Flyers with a hole on defense. So unless there's a second deal where JvR or something goes for a top four defenseman, it's kind of a step back.

I get the whole idea of get an asset for Carle while he's under contract. But if a 2010 scenario occurs again, I don;t want to be short a defenseman

How do you fit his cap?
- RooNosHockey

Well it would mean a roster player has to moved. I think Voracek or JVR for Ott+ would be the likely scenarios if they want him.

Watch the Flyers trade for a goaltender at 2:59 making it the 23rd trade. That would be my luck.

I felt like it was a lock at 8am, when Pierre forecasted between 25-30 trades today.

ZZZZZZZ... The fourth period just reported that a source inside Nashville speculated that they may be able to get Nash. Good for that team... I have a soft spot for them.

if the team d can tighten up even a bit, and bryz can find his game, they could be dangerous. they have the pieces. they just have to (frank)ing use them.

That would be stupid for the Flyers. Trading long term potential for short term grit...Unless Dallas is including a kid like Olesiak...even then, rather have JvR's potential.

No way they can afford Nash, Suter & Weber.

the likelihood of that is about the same as homer keeping a 2nd round pick.

No, other teams.....Just mean, I would like to see the fyers at 48 contracts instead of signing a bunch of guys for the Phantoms and be at 50. i know they have to stock the Phantoms with some vets too but guys like Jancevski and Bacashihua? well I guess the reason for Bacashihua was for an emergency recall goalie who didn't have to go thru re-entry waivers but you get the idea
