yea he said on tradecenter that theres teams calling about jvr
- griouxmvp2012

Of course there are...have to kick the tires. I'm sure teams would be calling Chicago about Sharp or Kane if Toews wasn't hurt

As Bill points out, the Flyers don't always make a move on TDL day. As long as they avoid panic moves, I'm fine.
- Jsaquella

I could see them looking at a guy like Travis Moen.

Maybe find a way to package in PK Subban as well.. .Fantasy trade day is now in full effect

i haven't paid any attention to him this year. i assume he's not doing that well if they're offering him for a forward.
- hammarby31

he's played the lion's share of the games, but greiss's numbers are better.

i kinda of have a feeling jvr will be wearing a different jersey after today
- griouxmvp2012

i don't think so. they would have moved him already.

What is the consensus of the JVR contract in the light of the contract James Neal just signed?

I liked the suggestion mentioned yesterday - Adam Hall - get it done and just ride Bryz and see what happens.

goalie guild loves greiss. and probably hates niemi since his technique can be described as fish out of water or beached whale or just pug fugly.

He was a rental, but he was also leading the NHL in assists at the time.

Also, what everyone seems to forget, the Flyers were in Tampa the night before and both Roenick and Primeau had knee injuries and they had no idea how badly either was hurt prior to the TDL.

Had there not been injuries the night before, there's no Oates trade. If Roenick and Primeau were out long term, the playoff centers would have been Jiri Dopita and Peter White.

- Jsaquella

I admit that hindsight does not help in thinking the flyers overpaid for Oates but I am putting out my opinion not fact and I would not have done that deal.
Not that the first rounder the flyers had would have been anything special but it could have been used as a piece to move up in the draft or get a player that's not a rental.
Did the flyers know MO was a bust at that point. Maybe behind the scenes they knew but they either talked up how great of a prospect he was or he was just a throw in.
Oates didn't exactly light the world on fire here . Again hindsight on my part plus throw in the fact I want to see the organization win a cup when I'm not 5 and 6 years old and don't know what all the commotion is outside because I was in bed.
I didn't see adding Oates as the missing piece of the puzzle to win the cup.

In case anyone was wondering, I have a fair amount of money on the under 22.5 trades today.

I think we'll be in on Ott. Only big name that makes sense right now. The move would likely mean Briere gets moved to wing tho.

They did overpay, but I'm simply saying I understand why they did overpay. They had soured on Oullet by the time the trade was made. It was mentioned at the time that he had been resistant to doing extra work and didn't believe in conditioning.

I don't buy that for a second. This is simply the calm before the storm... league wide.

The Flyers are ALWAYS looking to make moves and they currently have a ton of trading chips to make something happen, and they will.

- Flyers2821

well they did make their moves....grossman and Kubina

Watch the Flyers trade for a goaltender at 2:59 making it the 23rd trade. That would be my luck.

I felt like it was a lock at 8am, when Pierre forecasted between 25-30 trades today.

So dreger said SJ offered Niemi straight up for JVR. Flyers declined. thank god
- nastyflyergirl

That would be a terrible trade, but I'm sure it's true. GMs often try to fleece other teams when one team thinks/hopes the other is desperate.

If I were Holmgren, I'd make an immediate counter-offer of JVR and Bob for Logan Couture and Niemi. That one I'd do -- San Jose wouldn't.
