Calgary GM Feaster with 5 mins of spin doctoring on TSN. Holy poop, this guy is full of it.

"We worked our plan today" They are out of the playoffs and did nothing to improve their team. That's working the plan?

If I was there I would have asked him why he traded a draft pick for Pierre Luc Letorneau Leblond could play 3 games. Majority of the media doesn't have guts enough to ask those type of questions.

Because they know what kind of answer they'd get.

Also, reporters need to have a civil relationship with executives and coaches of the teams they cover, or risk not getting any information at all. It's a fine line.

Would've liked Gaustad to fill out PK and faceoffs but not at that asking px.

Very happy that Homer patched some holes on D prior to the deadline and did not overpay.

This is a good young team, that has some flexibility to make some changes in the offseason if need be.

Go Flyers!

agreed...the part about the team to beat, not so much. we are a work in progress with so much reliance on youth.
- isaiah520

I think the youth get better I really do. Matt Read and Couturier bring a lot to the defensive game. Also the back end is so much better than it was a month ago that I think that will spur on the guys up front. We have two legitimate shots from the point now and Kimmo won't be ground to a pulp come playoff time. Also the nonmovement today sends a big message to that locker room, it has too. It's like when you get a bad review at work but your boss says, just do xyz and we're good to go. I don't about the rest of you guys, but when I get feedback like that, it motivates the hell out of me to work harder and this group has shown a desire I thought they lacked last year. Again that's completely opinion based and open for debate but it's my perception.

I wised they acquired another checking forward to help with pk and faceoffs. I think it's gonna hurt them down the road. However Kubina and Grossman will prove to be the best midseason acquisitions. Those two add another set of dynamics to this team. A small adjustment period is still needed but by mid March I think the flyers will be considered the team to beat. Bryz will feel more comfortable now with a fully stocked Blueline, no more cheating to cut off those cross ice passes and despite my criticism of Reese, i think he gets Bryz to tighten that gaping fivehole. So yea it revolves around Bryz but he's been good more than he's been bad this year. Yes he's bailed them out at times and yes he has shown his potential. Now he needs to be more consistently good and the team needs to help him out a little by not making total brainfarts with the puck in their own zone which is uncharacteristic of a Cup team.
- JoeRussomanno

I don't know about "team to beat". The Rags are quite a solid team and Lundquvist erases a lot of mistakes. Same with the Pens and Fleury, plus that punk Malkin has been on fire and they may still get Crosby back in the fold. The Devils are no knockover either. Having said all that, with the way Philly can score, along with the D additions, they will be a team nobody really wants to face in the playoffs IF Bryz (and/or Bob) can get to "A-Game" type play. He doesn't have to be the second coming of Patrick Roy. Just solid.

As an aside, Philly matches up with the Peens in the postseason, and Crosby is healthy, I would have open season on him. He is good for the game and I don't want him injured, but I'm a Philly Flyers fan, not a general good of the game hockey fan, so I'd have Crosby wondering when the big hit is coming the whole series. Hell I'd play Malkin the same way. He has shown a propensity to run around loooking for retribution when he gets banged a few times. I'd rather have him doing that than being fully focused on his game.

Well I guess that's why I'm not a member of the media, I wouldn't toss softballs at these clowns. Basically these guys feed the media a line of bullcrap anyway.

So... What does everyone think about not making any moves? I was not hoping for Nash or Suter... but I thought a checking forward would have been nice... I just didnt see how we could fit one, without dealing someone else... I wish there was an emotocon for "eh"

I don't agree with Lundqvist erases a lot of mistakes because he doesn't face very many through the course of a game. In fact in the past when he has had to face the amount of mistakes our guys face he's looked more beatable. If the Flyers stop making so many mistakes their goalies will look better. That's why myself and others have been preaching team defense and goaltending is symbiotic. But yea they will be considered the team to beat no matter what at this point. I'm just saying the flyers will look a lot different out there in a month once the new guys are acclimated.

Cody hodgson for Zach kassain

Personally, I'm not a fan of this deal, but I can see why the Canucks did it. They wanted a caveman who could play a little. The long term key to the deal could be Marc-Andre Gragnani. He's got some skill this kid. Hodgson got off on the wrong foot with the organIzation here. He's like a Briere though in that he knows when to amp up his game and score a big goal. I hope he does well in Buffalo.

For the reason bolded, I didn't expect much after Kubina and Grossman. If Holmer could have picked up a checker for say Harry Z. he probably would have, but Gaustad went for more than I'd have wanted Holmer to give up.

I think "the team to beat" is whoever ends up in first... The rangers could slump big-time, and Flyers go on a streak... Bryz could post a 1.00 GZZ from here on out... Then the FLyers become the team to beat...

Did u really feel like washington was the team to beat last year? Teams that finish high in the east haven't done well since the lockout. I'm rooting for them to finish first. Gimme the Pens or devils in the first round and let the chips fall where they may. If the Flyers gel defensively they will be unstoppable.

How can you not like what the Sabres did today for their team? Also I'm happy the Flyers stood pat today and that JVR is still in orange and black

If the Flyers had traded JVR to San Jose that would have been an easy swap to complete.

Holmer: JVR get your gear and head on over to the other side of the buliding...Oh and if you see Couture tell him not to dally over there.

EDIT: Woulda made a hell of a subplot for tomorrows game too.
