A lot of blues fans were saying the same thing last year. Look at them now.

the Blues also have one of the best coaches in the world. Since Hitchcock took over, St. Louis has only 8 regulation losses in 45 games!

Agree. I just think when this mess called the islanders turns around, it's going to happen very quickly and sky rocket.

I really hope they scoop him. Hammer/Mac Streit/Clitsome Reese/Jurcina is exponentially better than Hammer/Mac Streit/Staios Eaton/Jurcina

I tried to find some info on him, and found an article from yesterday on a Flames blog that seemed to have some real good insight into him. http://www.matchsticksand...nsemen-arent-easy-to-find

Another disappointment following a big win Friday night. This team's MO is one step forward, one step back. I guess that's better than no steps forward, two steps back, which was the way things were around here in previous seasons.

Jurcina and Mottau suck. I can't wait until they're gone after this season (or maybe by 3 today). My weekend was made when the Isles won on Friday, but also when that sack of s**t Rolston was cut. Only smart personnel move Snow has made this year.

Garth can attone for his miserable summer last year and his lack of doing anything to improve the roster all season by re-upping PAP and Nabby. 4 years, $14M for Pareneau and two years, $8M for Nabby. the Isles wind up committing the same dollars to those two guys that they are committing to them now plus the wasted $5M on that bum Rolston. It works for all sides. Come on Garth, get this s**t done.

PA... I would like to keep... but Nabby should go.

I trust PA... that he will resign.

Nabby... I don't trust him. He's just getting back @ Snow for picking him up in the first place.

He's telling Garth he will resign, so he wont trade him and pick up anything for him to benefit the Isles.

@ 3:01pm... he tells Garth he's leaving @ the end of the season!!!

Damn Russians...

Mehh..I'll take Staples word over a guy who covers the Blues.

Andy Strickland is one of the best at breaking this kind of stuff. One of the only bloggers I actually read around here.

This team is going to let me down by 3 today, aren't they? They should be trading anyone they can, and if any of you think we should NOT trade Nabby, you're crazy. This team isn't winning any PS and he's 35. Get a 1st or a 2nd for him. It's not rocket science, playoff teams always need goalies. Trade PA, too. If he likes it here so much. tell him the door is always open for a return, and if he likes it on LI, he'll come back. Trade Striet, bad season and all, personnel people all over the league know he's a great defenseman, who would do wonders to a playoff teams defensive group. You're getting at least 3 high round picks and a couple of prospects if you move these 3 guys. Wake up, Garth.

I don't care if he signed a 6 year extension, this team fully needs to explain to JT, that they are committed to winning and they are committed to getting him some HELP. These 3 moves don't help us today, but they would help us big time for next season and beyond. Like I said, explain to PA that the door is fully open to a return and that the franchise is helping him out, giving him a chance to play for a contender and helping themselves out by getting resources in return. A team like Washington should be killing themselves to get a guy like PA to play on Ovechkin's line.

I'd trade Grabner for a good return in the form of a d-man. Breakaways don't count on the scoresheets and realistically thats all he consistently do. He'd have 40 goals if he ever figured that out.

The same thing could have been said about the blues a year ago..
- Isles316

Big difference between the Blues and the Isles: The Blues have a great coach. The Isles have an AHL lifer and a guy with zero experience waiting in the wings. That's why you need to bring a legit coach in before you can start talking playoffs with this team.

Agree with just about all of this. Nabby has one of his best years at 36...in a year the Isles were hoping he'd show he still has it so they could flip him in a trade. The plan has come together perfectly...he's matched his career best in save percentage, and there are multiple teams with tons of pressure to win now in need of a goaltender. I think they'll get good offers...all they have to do is pull the trigger. Don't spit on the hockey gods when they finally do the Isles a favor!

PA...I still say put your best offer in front of him today and trade him if he doesn't take it. If he doesn't take your best offer now, then he probably won't take it later.

Streit...it'd have to be a good offer to move him. Maybe if he's packaged with PA for a top D prospect to a team going for it all this year.

Strickland's definitely one of the best in the business, but it's Staples full-time job to cover the Isles. He travels with them, spends the most time with them, and is definitely more in touch with the daily goings-on of the team. He doesn't need sources, he is the source.

translation: staple has a lot more to lose if he leaked info about the ONLY team that he covers....might be too close to home for arty to leak some rumors....

Would you move Streit and PAP to Boston for Hamilton if they were a willing partner, or is that too much to give up?

I think Boston would have to throw in a 3rd round pick or maybe a Paille type deal filler. I don't know enough of the Boston system to know who their average type prospects are. PA and Streit are a bit much for Hamilton, but not too far off.

Per Dregger

PA Parenteau would prefer to stay with the Islanders, however, sources say the Isles are now taking offers on the pending UFA.
