Richard what about this...Do either of the big centers in the draft seem like the type that could play wing? Dont move Gags and do a straight out honest to god roll of lines 1-3 being something like this: Hall-Nuge-Grienko if he can play wing or something. Ebs-Gag-Lander and Paajarvi-Horc-smyth if they straight up rolled the lines evenly it wouldnt matter in ice time. Each line has at least a bit of size, lots of talent and line 1 and 2 have 2 centres not a bad thing to have.

In your mouth?

Your boy Turdis is up for a Shanniban I see.

I don't see you tooting his horn as much lately.

So you want credit on Nuge, provide the link to where you said it, and admit you got it wrong about Turdis.

- OilHorse

What's there to say? He's going to be a star. I've said this a million times but I'll say it again. It's tough to join a squad when you miss training camp and 30 games of regular season. I predicted this to be his breakout year about 6 months ago before I knew he wanted a trade and sat out. So I'll have to wait until next year to prove you wrong. And he did get traded for Rundblad and a 2nd, which obviously shows he is highly touted.

And I haven't said jack poop about RNH in like a year haha.....

Kills me...it aint hard...Tambi is supposed to say the P-offs are the goal...the fans knew in the beginning there was not much hope for it, but then that fast start came and everyone started forgetting what reality was.
- OilHorse

I never said we were or could make the playoffs this year. This came up because people want to trade established players and replace them with rookies, which would set everything back another year....at least

lol..OMG...

I do not get why you have such a homer-boner for this guy yet such a hate-on for PRV...the amount of leeway you give, the amount of excuses you provide for Turris astounds me.

He was in a bad system...he was not getting proper time...he didn't have a training camp.

Well the first two got erased in the trade...the last is gone by the time he paces up in Jan.

Yet here we are at teh end of Feb. and he is stinking it up...

and now you are giving the whole "wait until next year" stuff...ugh...it is always gonna be "wait until next year"...

Daigle, Barker, Bonsignore, Shremp...all highly touted...

My thing on Nuge is based off of the fact I don't believe you were all about him come WJrs...getting your bud Killbot, who we all know is your friend outside of this site to back you up does nothing for your credibility...link your statements...other wise we all believe you are full of sh!t on it, like Turdis.

I wasn't picking on you...I just think that too many people got lost in the lights of the fast start that they started to believe Tambi's comments and put too much stock in them.

I don't think he said anyhting wrong, nor do I think he was misleading the fans. I think he was showing confidence in his team. Maybe he was a littel deep in his own kool-aid, but he is proud of the team he is creating...and he showed it.

Grigorenko is listed as a C/RW I believe. I like the idea of taking him just because you can then have 3 guys capable of playing center in your top 6.

You're going to make me look back in the threads.....

Ask any regular here that was here a year ago. It was widely known my man crush on Nuge was going on since the start of the year.

I was here...I don't remember you talking like that....I may not remember it, but you show me? So yeah, go back in the Clout archives.

I will give you large props if you prove your statements...I will even lay off of my Turdis rants against you and give you some leeway.

You just gotta work a little for it.

Dont take grienko then take the other one and put him on wing...if it seems like the russian factor might be too much with that one...those 2 centers too me seem like the same player any ways I cant keep them straight

Valid point.
If Grigorenko were selected by the Oil as their first pick and he came to camp, shows RNH that he is taking his job right off the bat, then it would obviously be a wise choice. Fans would be on-board immediately.
However, history has shown to scouts that Russian players do carry with them a certain level of risk when it comes to committing to the NHL long term, especially if that player needs to spend time in the AHL to develop further or be assigned to conditioning stints through the early transitional stages. That is when the majority of not only Russian players, but European players in general, get a little weary of putting in the extra effort.

For that reasoning alone, it's a safer bet for the Oil to pick a player that is playing in a league like the WHL, as the scouts likely have far more intelligence gathered to confirm their choice is the best.

and look at RNH, gotta give it to pilgor..... he called it, tons of questions about his size and strength look at him now.

Oh i wanna keep gagner but the oilers need 2 things: Size in the top 6 and a top pairing dman.... he is neither and sometimes you have to give up something good to get something goood.

- Killbot460

I live in Red Deer. I knew about RNH just as long as pilgor did and wanted to draft him just as early if not earlier. I said for a long time that getting a true #1 center is a lot more difficult than getting a top pairing dman.

and Gagner will not get you a top 6 center with size and skill or a top pairing dman. So you go with what you've got unless a deal happens to come along that makes sense. Like I've said, repeatedly, you don't trade him and cross your fingers for others to hopefully work out. You know you've got a decent 2nd line center in him. Trade him, and take a guess at what the next thing is we're whining about not having.

Turris is simply overrated bro. Always has been. Zibinajed(sp?) and/or Stone will render him pointless possibly as early as next year.
