Lapierre took boxing lessons over last summer to back his mouth with his hands .

Maybe he should train with George St. Pierre and get a little MMA in with his boxing! Hey, they're both from Quebec!

I'd take Brassard, Ott's too much of a hothead, he isn't Lapierre v2.0, AV already coached Lapierre and could get through to him to tone his antics down.
- DariusKnight

Brassard has 96 hits(not too bad actually), but Ott has 204. Give me Ott and MG/AV can sit him down and let him now that he can't take those stupid penalties here or he'll be on the 4th line or the bench for the rest of the game.

No one is expecting that trade
- VANTEL

No one should be hoping for it either. Look at all the past SC winners and see who they had as their centers. I know a stud D-Man is needed as well usually, but Edler is a top 15 D-Man now IMO, he'd be top 10 if he can just be what he's capable of every night. Why try to fill a hole by creating another one?

I think last years Kesler is important to this team. This years version I am no sold on yet.I don't think anything that huge will happen but fun to dream.
- VANTEL

There does seem to be a little something off about Kesler and his attitude this season. His no-trade clause kicks in at the end of this season, so if they had any idea of moving him, now would be the time.

In theory, if they did look at Hodgson and/or someone like Brassard as their second line center, Kesler would be a nice fit with Nashville because he's good defensively and doesn't rely much on chemistry with his wingers. No need to surround him with high-skill guys to make his game better.

Kesler for Weber could be the basis for a good hockey trade. Nashville would have to add more though because Kesler is signed for several more years at a bargain cap number (which would really appeal to Nashville) while Weber is RFA and soon to be UFA.

I love Weber, but I'll take Kesler at 5 Mil over Weber at 6.5-7.5 anyday. If they included a good young forward I would consider it.

Lets get real though folks. It's not happening, especially mid-season.

I agree. It's a waste of cap space, and a waste of Schneider's career. It makes absolutely no sense. The only way I see Schneids here is if a offer sheet gets matched. Then Gillis can't do anything but wait a year. Since he can file for arbitration, thats highly unlikely.

If Gillis doesnt protect Schneider, then it's a Nonis type blunder. Remember how he never protected Kesler after being told by Clarke he was going to make him an offer if he doesnt trade him.

- boonerbuck

There is no evidence that Schneid is not happy playing 30 - 40 games with the knowledge that that increases every year.

The scenario I am proposing is just as credible as anything else...

JUST A SCENARIO GUYS>>>>>>

First

Luongo WILL NOT live out his contract. No intention to, never was. 2 more year as #1 -- meaning he is expected to have the majority of games. Then it will be a year of equality and then see a drop in Luongo starts.

It is not unthinkable that Scheids will be playing 35 - 40 games next year alone.

Second:

The new CBA will also allow GM's more wiggle room on getting out of contracts, trading money or getting a "Franchise Player" designation that is not on the cap. Basically, we are looking at a GM getting a mulligan so things like Scott Gomez do not ruin a team for 5 years. Now this is conjecture, obviously, but BOTH sides want more money for players and freedom from mistakes.

Third:

YES... I AGREE TYING UP THAT MUCH IN GOALTENDING SUCKS.... but DON'T ever believe that Canucks are poor. Playoff Gate Revenues Alone will allow Scheids to be OVERPAID later in his career.

Forth:

For all the people saying that CS wants to be a #1... name me a goalie who has not said that publically? I think CS sees himself, not as being put out or having a career on hold, but part of an excellent system that allows him to develop slowly and by the time he is at the prime age for a goalie, he will be #1... not sooner risk ruining him. Besides, who would not want to play in Vancouver? The Canucks will not trade him to a rival or contender.

Last:

And this is for all the old fogies out there...

I rememeber Harry Neil being the head coach in 1981 (maybe 80) when Gary Bromley suddenly got injured and out for the season right after the trade deadline. There was huge pressure to move either Bromley or Glen Hanlon.... and Neil came on CKNW and just verbally kicked the hell out of Jim Robson and (I think Tommy Larshied) saying "Where would we be now! Where the Hell would we be now!! All you who wanted a goalie trade can just shut up!"

Learn from history here.....

Surprised Clitsome got waived. Awesome name and a solid third pairing d-man signed at 1.25 mil for another season. He's not big, but he's built and strong for his size. Decent skill too. Similar to Ballard, except much cheaper. I'd pick him up and waive Sulzer in a heartbeat.

Oh I got that. But you bring up a good point. Something the mainstream media and most of the general public don't seem to understand is the difference between 'a rumor' and 'speculation'. They're not interchangeable terms.

I was just interested in exploring your idea a bit further. You had Kesler plus and I actually saw it the other way around. Nashville has a star guy on their hands who sounds like he doesn't want to be there and will be a UFA next year. In other words, a diminishing asset. They'd love Kesler's contract and this is the last season before his NTC kicks in. In my opinion Nashville are the ones who would have to add more to get a Selke winning, legitimate first line center who's locked up at a bargain salary for several more years.

I said much the same a bit earlier. Someone will claim this guy for sure. CLS being who they are, I found it a bit baffling to think they could start waiving players like him.

Brassard to the Canucks does not make sense. I'm listening to Ek here. Montreal wants him bad. It's leaked that the Canucks want him to drive up the price. b4

I've read he will back for the playoffs. Gillis and Gilman able to weave some cap magic once again. Bring on Morrow or Ott.
