If Oilers go into next year with the same D and same goaltending they will finish bottom 3 in the league again. Problem is Canucks time to win is now, not in two years.

You didn't think I was being serious did you?

If the Oilers got Schneider on an offer sheet, their annual tradition of Draft Lottery parties would quickly come to an end. He's not headed there, but why deprive the lad of his fantasies? That's just cruel.*

Good morning BTW.

*(I realize this comment may seem 'arrogant' to fans of other teams, but in reality it's just the level of cheekiness that is permissible when your team is 1st overall.)**

**(Actually this last part does sound somewhat arrogant. I guess it is unavoidable.)

Gillis is asking top 4 D or top 6 forward or 2 x 1sts

It'd be exciting to get both Tampa's firsts (6 and 26). Or Columbus' lottery pick.

Why has the general media abandoned the idea of keeping both Goalies long term?

I understand that everybnody wants a story at the deadline but everyone seems to base their argument of the following idea:

"Ya Know, Sneids won't be happy being a back up much longer."

This is 100% conjecture and what is 'back-up" so much when you will play ocver 1/3rd of the games, play in some of the hardest teams in their barns and have the respect of the entire team.

Look ---- we have always been taught we are on the "DETROIT MODEL"... correct? Is not part of their model having depth goaltending...

Hasek - turns into Osgood
Osgood turns into Howard
Howard turns into Macdonald (???)

Jedi to Padawan --- everytime.

WAY too many teams have a Jedi and then nothing and 1 injury screws them for a season.

And still there are teams that expect two Padawans and no Jedi....

Toronto's goalies have been based on Padawans and a philosphy that their you are Ken Dryden NOW (NOW NOW NOW) or there must be something wrong with you.

Scheids should go no where. Just just Cody Hodgeson, he will be running the franschise in a few years. He will be a Jedi to a new padawan.

I see that poster and I see Brian Burke and Rask.

We can't keep both and after this season who knows who will be going .If we win Lu will have a very good trade value .

Columbus should trade Brassard for SOB . Schneids for SOB and Yakupov . SOB can take this young guy under his wing and show him how to adjust to Vancouver living. They go to the Roxy and the next mornings headlines would read .Nail in Jail over a piece of Tail .

"This kid is a No. 1 goalie in this league," Elias said. "He's in a tough position there. I think there are going to be 29 teams in line to get him when his time comes. He is that good. We had traffic and shots and tonight it didn't go in for us."

I see no reason for this.

If we need a Depth forward or D-man, the 4th liners get squished down to lower paid players with lesser expectations and responsibilities.

This happens all the time.

The first part of the statement is fact. The second is conjecture. The third is history,

Raymond has little value . Lu I would try for Hedman out of TB .I was just am not a huge fan of Whitney so I made ammends. I don't want to be stuck with Luongos long long contract so if it is a fair deal ,I would take it.

If the Canucks ever do trade Schneider, it won't just be for draft picks. Draft picks are unknown commodities. If we're trading away a potential franchise goalie, then Gillis will need young players who can step into the lineup right away.

No way Schneider and Luongo are both in Vancouver next year. They are both starting goalies. If you've ever heard Schneider in interviews he always says he wants to be a starting goalie in this league. Plus he will be getting a huge raise. Would be stupid for the Canucks to have $9 or $10 million tied up in goal tending.

I agree. It's a waste of cap space, and a waste of Schneider's career. It makes absolutely no sense. The only way I see Schneids here is if a offer sheet gets matched. Then Gillis can't do anything but wait a year. Since he can file for arbitration, thats highly unlikely.

If Gillis doesnt protect Schneider, then it's a Nonis type blunder. Remember how he never protected Kesler after being told by Clarke he was going to make him an offer if he doesnt trade him.

I think it's pretty clear Schneider will be traded at the draft. Wish we knew what type of offers will be out there for him. A top 10 draft pick plus a prospect would be great. It could ensure the Canucks will be good for another 15 years if they could have a young core with Hodgson, Jensen, Tanev, Connauton plus another high end prospect or two.
