Maybe of this era, hardly of all-time, to be a top 10 GM of all time he'd have to get us to a dynasty level where we're either winning a cup or in the Finals nearly every year like the Patriots in the NFL. I consider Ken Holland to be #1 of this era because the Red Wings are almost always there at the end to be considered a big threat to either contend or even win the Cup.

I think he is building for now and the future.I remember when people were asking WTF is this guy Gallagher said" Canucks are getting a guy who thinks outside the box."I think he is going to be one of the best in twenty years.

BTW building a dynasty back then as compared to now ????? 2 years is a dynasty in this era.

Very possible, but again, the measuring stick is Cups, Holland has to be up there because of the several his teams have won. What I'd like to see for our 50th anniversary season is when we win the Cup this year, they unveil a couple of additions to Roger Neilson's statue. Him on the left, Pat Quinn on the right and in the middle AV holding up the Cup.

Holland and Bowman already are legends . I think Gillis will fit in too after his term.

The key is keeping the team competitive year after year. If you look at Detroit, they have probably been one of the top 5 teams you would pic as Stanley Cup favorites for the past dozen years.

Who could forget it. When Burke said that I though we were getting the 2nd coming of Patrick Roy.

He sucks as a commentator/broadcaster as well.

He could. His cap management and talent for $ ratio has been very good. The Canucks need a couple of cups before he can be brought into any conversation.

Let's not forget he was the assistant GM during one of the worst eras of the Canucks (mid to late 80's) and then went to the NHL to become the head disciplinarian under John Ziegler.

I know, that is why it think it is ridiculous to talk about him being on any of the "best GMs of any generation" list. He still has a long way to go.

If Gillis can win 2-3 cups in the next 10 years, I don't care where he ends up on any list. I just know I will be one very happy Canucks fan.

You are being truthful . After you seen Gretzky you knew he was going to be very good. You never knew how good but you knew he was special .I get the same feeling with GillisI think one day he will be amongst the best.
