Just heard on the NHL Network that the condition involved in the third rounder is that the Devils have to reach the Eastern finals in order for that pick to be included. Not sure if it reduces to a lower pick otherwise or if it is just removed outright, but that makes me feel somewhat better about the value yielded. I did not realize that before.

In TG's write-up about the trade, both Elias and Sykora spoke highly of Zidlicky's skill as well as his toughness. Elias used the term "mean-streak." So there's an awful lot of positive accounts at work here. Granted these guys are his friends and fellow countrymen. But when you hear so many people speaking positively about a player, it makes you think there is a good amount of credence to it.

Even when Palmieri played with Kovalchuk, he couldn't handle a single pass, he doesn't have much of a shot, he doesn't do much offensively without players doing it for him, he will never be anything more than a decent third liner. Bernier would be a good comparable to what he will be, and AT BEST, Ponikarovsky.

Foster gets replaced by Zidlicky, and Veillieux was useless anyways.

What about Zajac , Mills , Taormina , for Martin St Louis ? Tampa won't make the playoffs would be a great move for the future of Tampa they could just shut Zajac down until next season .. (Sykora Elias St Louis)

They both suck, sorry to break it to you. Both are bottom pair Dmen at best. At absolute best. Everyone got googly eyed of Fayne's production last year and the fact that he excelled in Lemaire's system. Everyone excelled in Lemaire's system. Fayne's "flash" and "wow" that has some people on these boards ready to spooge over the guy is vastly overstated. His positioning sucks and he's extremely weak on his skates. How many goals have gone in the back of his own net off his stick or skate? Call it bad luck, but in addition to bad luck he also sucks balllz

Unless the Devils win the Cup in one of the next 2 years, Wild will be the winners of this by a lot. Zidlicky was the guy I wanted them to get but not for all that. I would have been content with the pick being a 3rd and a conditional 2nd if they made it to the Cup finals, but good deal for the Wild and let's hope Zidlicky gets things back on track with the team he wanted to go to.
