Am I hearing this right?

Foster, Veilluex, Palmieri and two picks for Zidlicky.

Wow. Minnesota murders the devils in that trade.

Is the 2nd too much? Or is there some other piece of value in this deal I'm missing?

The going rate for D-men seems to be real high. This one is no different. Like other NJ fans, I'm not thrilled. Like others, I am hoping Lou knows best. We will see.

You have to pay to get a defenseman near the deadline (kubina, gill, grossman).

Still Zidlicky is 35 and is on the decline it seems. He makes $4 million too for this year and next year. I would almost prefer if he was a ufa after this season, but oh well.
- zach parise9

Both Ponikarovsky and Bernier were on the "decline"

Give it a shot before you knock it. He's good friends with Elias and Sykora, he has to be better than Foster. This ensures Salvador doesn't return, but we have Fayne, who does what Salvador does and he actually has some offensive tools.

You know it seems like allot of assets but in reality how does it effect our lineup?

V-guy, never played with us, for a good reason.
Palmolive is a 3rd or 4th liner.
Foster just got here and outside of his few goals, eh.

The 2nd and conditional could hurt, but we'll have to wait and see how he produces before making that distinction.

Spare parts, nothing I'm concerned about.

Palmieri, Foster, and Veillieux are all replaceable, you can get cheap guys like them in every FA market. I look at it as a second and a conditional third for Zidlicky, which is a good trade to me.

Unless the Devils win the Cup in one of the next 2 years, Wild will be the winners of this by a lot. Zidlicky was the guy I wanted them to get but not for all that. I would have been content with the pick being a 3rd and a conditional 2nd if they made it to the Cup finals, but good deal for the Wild and let's hope Zidlicky gets things back on track with the team he wanted to go to.

this is all that matters in this trade...
Zidlicky > Foster. boom. Too bad about the 2nd round pick. SO.. Pelley, Vellieux, Palmieri and a 2nd for Zidlicky. Its not bad.. I doubt Palmieri is ever anything more than a 3rd line RW at best. Same for Vellieux.

I don't care that he is friends with Elias or Sykora to be honest man. It really doesn't have much importance. Fayne does what Salvador does? Are you kidding? Salvador is significantly better than him defensively. Volchenkov isn't much better than Salvador right now.

Allot of pieces... yes. Allot of value... debatable. Never sneer at draft pics but i would have been okay waiving all 3 of those guys.

Then we lost. Doubtful we win the cup this year or next. Barring a miracle, we're not a likely to win a cup.

2nd is high, but our prospect depth is solid pretty much everywhere but forward. I don't like the second, but I can't say anything until Zidlicky plays.

Good way to put it. He wanted a trade to NJ and he got it... Better show us what he still has left for this year and next.

Yeah he is defensively. And I don't know why you think you are breaking anything to me. I certainly would not take anything you say as fact. Would probably be a mistake.

Salvador makes a lot of stupid mistakes at times and is prone to give aways in the d-zone. Maybe defensively yes, but Salvador makes a lot more stupid mistakes in the defensive zone then you see Fayne making most of the time, as Fayne gets the puck out a lot cleaner and crisper than Salvador.

Salvador doesn't offer much except his defense. Fayne has more to offer than that.
