Am I hearing this right?
Foster, Veilluex, Palmieri and two picks for Zidlicky.
Wow. Minnesota murders the devils in that trade. - vancity787
Not from a roster stand point. All 3 players they got are garbage. Picks, well its hard to say. |

Spare parts.
Foster is a mediocre 5/6 defenseman, pitiful defensively. Veillieux is a career AHLer, never will be more than a 4th liner, Palmieri might be a 3rd liner but he is a bad skater and can't control a pass for his life, I don't think the trade is that bad, IMO, its just spare parts.
It's what happens when Gill and players like that set the bar high. |

Did the Devils overpay? Maybe slightly. But they are in win-now mode. It really doesn't matter. Foster was bad and Palmeiri couldn't crack the line-up.
Lou will work some magic and put Tallinder on LTIR for a year if he needs to. |

Salvador-Taormina/Tallinder(who probably wont be back this season)
Ehhh...it's not terrible, but's not great either.
Hopefully the chode can come over and play inspired that his former team basically shoved his arse out the door. |

Foster and Veilluex are bad. Palmieri can become a good third liner and right now is a 4th liner. The 2nd was from Washington which we got for Arnott who was signed to a one year deal. All we are really giving up is our own 3rd round pick. |

Hard to say. I think Zidlicky needed a change of scenery and the market for d-men is way too high anyways. - Nucker101
Zidlicky can easily replace Foster's production.
The only thing that I worry about is two picks, the guys they got were garbage, and it cleared roster spots for us too. |

Palmeri wasn't terrible...Wouldn't have minded keeping him. - zach parise9
He would never have been more than a third liner. I appreciate what he did last season, but flashes of brilliance followed by periods of fail, is not what we need. If Zidlicky can give us some get up and go from the back end, im ok with it. Again, i haven't seen much of Zidlicky, so we'll see how we faired from a pick perspective as things roll on. |

Wouldn't the Caps pick be higher (potentially)? |

The one game I went to in Nashville, Zidlicky set the Predators record for points in a game (7). Its a sign. |

He is still young and could become a decent power forward. Don't like that we gave up 2 picks either. Think we overpaid somewhat. |

Most likely.
They probably wanted the Capitals pick over ours to get the deal done. |

1 pick and a conditional. You never know what the condition is. |

Even when Palmieri played with Kovalchuk, he couldn't handle a single pass, he doesn't have much of a shot, he doesn't do much offensively without players doing it for him, he will never be anything more than a decent third liner. Bernier would be a good comparable to what he will be, and AT BEST, Ponikarovsky.
Foster gets replaced by Zidlicky, and Veillieux was useless anyways. |

I think Lou must be pretty confident in the ownership to afford zidlicky |

Looks like it, but the players are garbage, easily replaceable by the Devils. |

The only thing we have a problem with is a debt we can't pay off but can pay the interest on and Chambers wants out, we can spend up to the cap, that's not the problem. |

Laughing at overpayment, or how we traded a bag of pucks for him? - _Zippy_
Veilleux was the back breaker. That guy was really good for that one game he played. |

Who cares if a Canadiens fan is laughing? They'll be gutted by Monday evening. |

Still Zidlicky is 35 and is on the decline it seems. He makes $4 million too for this year and next year. I would almost prefer if he was a ufa after this season, but oh well. |
