who cares, goose could play wing or center!!!! goose is EXACTLY what this team needs on and off the ice!!
- wonthecup10

I would love to have Gaustad in Chicago. You're right. He'd fit like a glove.

All of this overvaluing of some players on the Blackhawks reminds me of the Bulls about 5-6 years ago when Paxson couldn't break up Heinrich, Gordon, Deng, Noah, and company because they were too valuable to trade and ready to take it to the next level. How many championships did that team win?

Sharp = Star
Nash = Superstar

Nash > Sharp

If some of you can't get this through your heads, may God have mercy on your souls.

Goose is absolutely not a wing. He's too good in the circles to be wasted on wing. Especially considering both Bolland and Kruger blow stink on draws. If Goose comes here, I hope he takes more draws than anyone other than 19.

Kane plays D every bit as well as Sharp...and that ain't saying much. That's what I don't get. Somewhere, somehow, at some point in time, Sharp duped everyone into thinking he's some great two way forward. He's not, he's every bit the defensive liability that Kane is.

Kane is arguably the best passer in the game. Good snipers, while not quite a dime a dozen, are easier to find than elite playmakers...so yeah, Kane over Sharp any day.

I am one of the few on this board that agrees with you Ogi. I love Sharp and think he is a good guy, but trading him can get the Hawks pieces that will make them better in the long run. Not looking forward to a $5.9M cap hit over the next 5 years.

Nash is a superstar but his team no longer wants him or the contract they deemed him to be worth. Enough said. He'd be a great add on to a team that is built for a big run, no argument there, and yes, he's one of the elite power forwards in the game. But to me, he looks like the next Dany Heatley.

If Sharp IS traded and I am NOT opposed, then he should be moved for valuable, cost effective pieces, not a frigging guy making nearly 8 million a damn year, who quite frankly is NOT worth that.

Absolutely would be the most heinous move the Hawks could make adding 8 large onto our cap.

I was instrumental in getting the necessary turnover in the Park District Board there about five years ago.....

If they were just trading Nash, maybe I would agree with you. They traded Vermette and Carter who were costing them big money too. Obviously they are starting over and looking to trim payroll since they are losing money out of their ass. I wouldn't compare him to Heatley at all. He is a tool.

Good point about the fire sale in Ohio, but Nash was the FRANCHISE player...and now they don't want him? Wow. They soured on him pretty fast. Heatley is a tool, but he was a great goal scorer once and is now on the down slope. Nash has time to rediscover his lamp lighting prowess, but he's in danger of finding himself on that same down slope.

Wow. Yea, around here there are some really good 5s, but no way could they make the travel team.

My son was basically one of the the last ones picked (though at least he made it). I could tell. He won't be next season in his second year, but it hasn't come easy for him. And your boys size is a testament to that.

I also have an oldest who plays, he's a goalie. Damn good. Not sure how good yet. He didn't play travel this year, opted to play for a 'start up' middle school team. LMMFAO. His team got outshot in games this year 65-7, 48-6., etc...it was all inline players who had moved to ice that were playing players in high level travel programs and Little Capitals. It was quite an experience, but the kids did awesome sticking together and with the exception of one game where my son sorta lost his composure, he handled himself wonderfully...more than once he'd come off the ice and tell me, "it felt like we were on the penalty kill the entire game".

He's trying out for Midgets (16U) this year as a 15 year old. We'll see.

If you don't mind me interjecting with a friendly bit of advice with kid's hockey - as a parent enjoy it no matter what the scores are, keep them playing as long as possible.

My daughter played both boys and girls hockey up to the age of 13 and then went on to play girls hockey until 16 and still plays in a semi competitive women's league. When she was 12, her girls team played an exhibition game with her boys team and they stopped keeping score when the girls got up 6-0. What I saw were fathers who were enraged because their balloons had been wienered - all the little Johnny's weren't going to be NHL players.

Fathers can take the enjoyment out of the game with unrealistic expectations. I had none obviously and enjoyed it for what it was, encouraging her, tieing up her skates. taping her sticks.

And if there is an opportunity to play a tournament in Lake Placid, do it - great place.

I don't give 3 cruds about the Wings...i'd take Sharp over Nash for the Blackhawks 8 days a week.
- philco28

I F U K E N HOPE bowman is secretly in on nash big time! i'll pack sharps &/or stalbergs suitcases for them & drive them to o'hare if i'm picking up nash on the return trip!!

Watch the two of them skate. There is a huge difference. And Nash has never had a center like Joe Thonton to play beside.

I created a monster with that trade thought. And I hope Bowman is secretly in on it too but more likely the jerk is analyzing the waiver wire.

I have ANYTHING but unrealistic expectations. I already said my youngest was last picked, would probably be a decent role player on his travel teams and join me in the beer leagues one day.

I coach his baseball team, his inline hockey team and until he made travel his ice hockey teams, though I could coach it as I am level 3 certified. And I absolutely make it fun, because if they don't have fun, they won't come back. He has played 3 seasons of Tee Ball and he'll begin his 2nd season (counting Fall) of Machine Pitch this Spring (all with me coaching).

The ONLY RULE I have for him in hockey (and baseball) is SIMPLE...give it your best. If he does that I don't give a hoot what happens. He also knows when he hasn't given his best, because I tell him about it.

Cup...fair enough. I don't blame anyone for feeling that way. Nash is an intriguing piece for any team. I just really respect the way Sharp has been a tremendous influence on/off the ice for our beloved club and trading him would, i suspect, be a very unpopular move inside the dressing room.

You would be adding about 2 million if Sharp was moved straight up.

And enjoy watching Sharp play when he's 33 pulling down $6 million.

Good point...Nash is a world class skater, whereas Heater is a good skater, but more of a plodder. Nash to me, really seems to have lost his passion for the game and playing in Columbus on all those bad teams will do that. He's a very good player...wouldn't say great...depends what kind of team he has around him. With an elite team, he could very well be reborn.

And thus 2 more million we can't dedicate to the support people, making the Hawks even MORE TOP heavy. Adding two million to that position is a terrible move. And Nash IS NOT freaking Gretzky here.

Honestly, I have no issue moving Sharp, but it's to open up some room to improve the supporting cast, because having a great 'core' gets you in the middle. It's those role players that acutally count.
