LOL...he's a Mite hockey player, no playoffs, just a regular game, before a tournament in a couple weeks in PA, tomorrow is his first game at D so I'm excited to see that. His main problem is he is the size of a damn 4-year old so his talent is hidden.

He is really small. He's a beautiful skater, but these huge kids who skate like dump trucks can actually keep up with him, because of their physiology/genetics. I suspect he'll be a solid role player in travel leagues and then end up in the beer leagues with me.

Very cool. I have a 6 year old playing Mite travel. Such a blast isn't it? Have another little guy who just turned 3 and he skates 3 days a week. Good luck tomorrow!

Still waiting to here more on Brassard, lot of internet buzz on it tonight and one tweet saying it was imminent. This is one the Hawks could be in on. I will not stay up for it.

I sense a little frustration.

I don't dislike him, just think he's very overrated and soon to be very overpaid.
I do appreciate him...for what he is, a pure sniper. I just don't pretend he's anything more than that, and he's far from untouchable in my book.

- Ogilthorpe2

Ogi, I enjoy your comments...most of the time.
It's when you go on a rant about sharp being the most overrated .....ever! That's when you lose me.
I don't think he is hof but the guy is really good...REALLY GOOD

Columbus will collect enough draft choices to use to be able to get themselves a decent goalie in the summer.

Your trade is quantity over quality. Howson couldn't take that deal, there are no proven players in the package.

- RickJ

That's the best the Hawks could offer now.

Can't include Hammer now cuz he can't be replaced.

As far as goalies go I agree....there will be a bunch avialable this summer.

Don't you think he is more likely to want a package of players like Stalberg, Leddy plus picks/prospects vs one with Sharp in it? Sharp doesn't do much for them IMO but add to their cap woes. Looks like they want to wipe it out.

If Gaustad was packaged with Roy, that would be good, but aren't they both centers?

He is SIX playing mite travel? He must be good. My kid is 7 and we have no one younger than 7 on our team.

This season has not been great for my kid. He started fast, got disinterested...we even missed a tournament because his attitude was such chit...then a couple weeks ago in practice the coach just randomly tried him at D and he was kicking some serious tail.

And get this (LOL)...his ability to read the play, move the puck and skate it out of the zone is excellent, but he sometimes gets overmatched in front of the crease (due to his size)....so I am thinking he's a damn good candidate for the Blackhawks as he'd fit right in.

In the scrimmage game with the team (which was something like a 12-10 game) only 1 goal was scored against his pairing. So the coach saw that and made the move.

Also, his team is going to kill their opponents tomorrow, they are playing this 'develop travel team' from another program. The last time they played them wasn't pretty. Wished my boy was on O, because there is gonna be lots of goals tomorrow.

So you appreciate and value setup men who can't and won't play D more than finishers? Cause that's kaner. And Kane is already overpaid instead of about to be overpaid.
- dpard

Kane plays D every bit as well as Sharp...and that ain't saying much. That's what I don't get. Somewhere, somehow, at some point in time, Sharp duped everyone into thinking he's some great two way forward. He's not, he's every bit the defensive liability that Kane is.

Kane is arguably the best passer in the game. Good snipers, while not quite a dime a dozen, are easier to find than elite playmakers...so yeah, Kane over Sharp any day.

Buffalo wouldn't do it right now. Abd they are getting closer to contending for a playoff spot because Miller has been tremendous in the last 2 weeks.

Only becasue of playoff picture now....But I think if the Hawks offered that package it would have a decent chance now and a very good chance this summer.

Roy is a skillful player but ...He isn't cheap, is coming off a poor year and has had injury issues.

The Hawks package would be hard to turn down.

Sharp's a +60 for his career and is consistently a higher plus/minus player than Kaner.

He is the youngest in the league. But he is big for his age and he can really skate. Still been a big learning curve and intimidating as he is playing with some 3rd graders. But I think it will pay off in the long run. He actually just turned 6 do really he played he season while 5. Mite level is so much fun..

It's not delusional, it's just opinion. I know I'm in the minority on this one, I'm fine with that. I just watch him play, then come here and read people gushing over Sharp's play...I just don't see it. Never have. Again, nice player, fills a need...I would never trade him just to trade him, but if it improves the team...go for it.
- Ogilthorpe2

Thats what im saying ! I like Sharpie , but If you could get Nash for Sahrp , a pick , and and AHler , you'd have to do that. But I digress because I think we are on our way to 600 comments on this blog with the Hawks not making any moves. I have work tomorrow and hoxckeybuzz.com and twitter will be the only focus from 0700-1500 !!

Be fair, the 2 go hand in hand. Not many big time goal scorers do it without a playmaking center or winger. Defence isn't much to learn, it just requires willingness to do it.

Kane is clearly the superior natural talent to Sharp.

Wow. Yea, around here there are some really good 5s, but no way could they make the travel team.

My son was basically one of the the last ones picked (though at least he made it). I could tell. He won't be next season in his second year, but it hasn't come easy for him. And your boys size is a testament to that.

I also have an oldest who plays, he's a goalie. Damn good. Not sure how good yet. He didn't play travel this year, opted to play for a 'start up' middle school team. LMMFAO. His team got outshot in games this year 65-7, 48-6., etc...it was all inline players who had moved to ice that were playing players in high level travel programs and Little Capitals. It was quite an experience, but the kids did awesome sticking together and with the exception of one game where my son sorta lost his composure, he handled himself wonderfully...more than once he'd come off the ice and tell me, "it felt like we were on the penalty kill the entire game".

He's trying out for Midgets (16U) this year as a 15 year old. We'll see.

I was instrumental in getting the necessary turnover in the Park District Board there about five years ago.....
