sad part about having stamkos vincent and st. louis is your still terrible. Thats how Tampa gets superstars, they are terrible with them and get high draft picks - Carrsrkewl9
we are still a good team. injuries killed us again this year. yzerman is just using a makeshift lineup until our young guys are ready. he knows what hes doing and we have one of the best AHL teams too down there so our depth is deff getting there. last year we over achieved we just kept winning even we couldnt believe it down here. but we said from the start wed have a shot if we played anyone BUT boston. we just dont match up well against them i couldnt believe it went 7 games. but we play more like van so im sure we would have beat the nucks too but still. this was a 3 year plan set up by yzerman. we will have a fresh new D core next year. hopefully a young no. 1 goalie with garon to back him up then tokarski the following year. a new top d man and hopefully some new young guys up front too. next year we will win the division. thats year 3 of yzermans plan. |

its gonna suck when the leafs actually win a cup. im going to take a year vacation when that happens. it would be hockeybuzz worst nightmare (not for ek) if it ended up being a mtl tor east final and a van edm west final. |

That has as much chance happening as the Kings actually winning a Cup.

He's on pace for ~80pts and 30+ goals. He has more points than Hossa, Kovalchuk, Toews, Parise, Datsyuk, and Tavares. I don't think any team would give up Brown + Bernier for Lupul but he is certainly worth that to the Leafs. |

He had 2 years of injury problems. He has had only 2 other 50+ point seasons and that was in '05 and '08.
He is having a break out year. But he is not an every year kind of guy.
he is just the type of player that has this type of year one season.. becomes a UFA and gets a huge deal only to under perform greatly. |

I dont see how we overvalue our players, maybe just a bit but not always. We say Kadri is our top prospect yet all of hockeybuzz that is not a leafs fan says hes garbage hes a scrub he cant crack a permanent spot in the lineup. We have a solidified 1st line and 2nd line, how is kadri going to get full ice-time or even yet play a full season without any spots available? Kadri is a decent prospect, his stats show it when he was with the london knights and with the toronto marlies. He is only 20 years old, drafted in the first round and played for the team canada juniours. Don't tell me he is poop because he is not. He has yet to be given a chance. He is a prospect like any other prospect in this league. That is why they are called "prospects". And we talk so highly of him because everyone assumes he is our best top prospect in our pool. |

Well, IT IS supposed to be the end of the world this year
But in other news, Rosehill and Boyce demotions a sign of a trade? Probably not, but I thought I'd throw that out there. |

I think Gardiner is the best prospect, that is why it will be hard to get Nash or Brown. I think T.O. could make playoffs if they just get a goalie |

I don't know who all will be available but I would go hard after Suter and then maybe see if there are any takers for JBO. Move on from there. - whipper334
Thats a good call. I think that they need to target a young Center. Johanson or Ennis? Would love to say couture but won't happen.
Jbo to winnepeg or NYI? Burmistov? Strome (if we send a high pick as well)?
Or Trade Kipper, let iggy be a rental for a year to come back afterwards and pull an edmonton and suck for a year to get mackinon.

Not true, Lupul can continue playing like this and he is utterly just dominating with kessel. This season its like he has a flame under his ass every game, just dominating and at times way better than kessel, ive gone to a couple leaf games this season, he just dominates. And im happy to see this emergence, good for him to be back on track with his career. But does not mean he is worth bernier+brown, highly doubt that. He needs to prove himself consistently this season and the next and so on. |

No. Kadri is obviously not poop as I'm sure he could skate circles around any of us. But if Kadri can't even beat out MacArthur (to play wing) or Bozak (to play center) then he cannot be that great of a prospect if you look at it. |

That's really only an opinion and not based on any fact. I can easily say that he's finally healthy and playing to expectations and will be a top 15 scorer in the league for the next 5yrs....and all of that would be based on absolutely nothing other than opinion and faint hope.
Can't bash another dude's opinion because you think you can predict the future. |

Kadri is not the greatest at playing center, i see him more as a winger/setter.
The reason he cant beat out Macarthur is cause macarthur can actually score goals. Kadri i dont see as a big goal scorer, when he plays with the leafs hes more of the type to make that "pass" to get the goal. He creates the play and sets the play.
As of now all the guys on our roster are NHL ready and better to have than kadri. But i would want to see how he would play between kessel and lupul if given a chance.

Except he's healthy now and has been arguably the Leafs best forward (for the record I wouldn't trade Kessel for Brown + Bernier). No doubt he's been hurt and inconsistent over his career, which is why Burke would never get that back and how he got Lupul in the first place. However, without Lupul the Leafs chances at the playoffs are gone.
I was asked what I would need back to move Lupul and IMO it would have to be for something that keeps the Leafs competitive for the playoffs and improves their future outlook. I feel my trade proposal satisfied those requirements. |

It would be a shame for brown to be traded like this.
His offensive skills are very limited but he is the hardest skater every night. |

I said COLUMBUS ---_____---- i said why would columbus trade for a guy like lupul thats the same age as Nash in a trade where Columbus is getting rid of big contracts and surely looking for younger guys while if they traded Nash in a deal with lupul in it, thats a downgrade for columbus. - Mapleleafs_91
It would free up significant cap space... |

Lupul has 62 points. Nash has 42 points. Why would the leafs ruin kessel and lupuls chemistry. |
