yea thats the problem for some of these teams they are always just decent teams so they never really suck to get that big name guy... st. louis said it best... Absolutely. You guys have the cornerstones, ya just need to fill the gaps.

Leino = tough signing.
Stafford = I think he can still be really good.
Boyes = was a good gamble. a 2nd for a guy who potted 40? ya gotta make that trade. Just didn't pan out.

All is not lost. but you guys need to start losing to get a good draft pick though.

Wouldn't this trade sorta be counter-productive? This would sorta off-set the Carter trade and it'd look like LA would be in the exact same position as before the Carter trade, give or take some goals.

TBL are just a few pieces away from being a legit top threat every year. They clearly have the scoring. They just need more defensive pieces. Hedman is your future but there needs to be a better veteran presence on the blueline.

If they had a top 12 NHL goaltender who could steal games... YIKES

Whoever trades for Nash is going to be on the losing end. It's going to gut the team's depth + current roster. Just isn't worth it.

i mean you cant blame columbus for asking for a top 6, top prospect, and 1st for nash... hes their franchise player/captain... Rick Nash IS the columbus blue jackets.

thats like the bolts trading lecavalier before we drafted stamkos. Vinny is still the face of the bolts around the bay here. hes put millions into this community. i cant believe hes been with us for almost 15 years already.

Better chance of Phaneuf + Kessel being swapped for Kopitar + Brown and Voynov.

No just kidding not a terrible trade, more than what Burke would give up but similar to what CBJ wants back. Probably have to swap Colborne or Biggs for Aulie/Blacker though.

thats why theres talk of bernier. also vokoun or nabokov in the offseason. not to mention we have tokarski waiting in norfolk. and we also have two 1sts this draft. a lot of talk about taking malcolm subban with that 2nd first. hopefully we can get dumba with our first one. dumba and hedman on D. big 3 up front. and bernier/tokarski/subban in goal.

Yeah you are probably right, i dont see Burke giving up schenn or gardiner and another thing is columbus has to be looking for youth prospects for offense, they have so many defenders already signed and young guys like moore and savard ready to be in the NHL.

Probably along the lines of 1st Rounder, Colborne, Percy/Blacker, Scrivens, and Kulemin.

Why can't spezza or karlsson be the face of the franchise? Spezza is over a point per game player for his career, both in the regular and postseason. I wouldn't trade Spezza straight up for nash, let alone include one of the best goalie prospects and a 1st. that is insane

i think it needs to be a young goalie and not Vokoun or Nabby.

I would look at guys like Bernier, Schneider, Lindback, and even Rask.

EDIT: the amount of draft picks that TBL has is terrifying to me. What is it 2 1sts, 2 2nds, 3 3rds and 2 4ths? or something like that?

I still think Boston would be able to give up a bettter package for Nash. Something like Krejci, Hamilton, Hamil (still a top prospect? ) and a 1st.
