I wouldn't move Despres for anything. Entry level deals are worth their weight in gold to teams up against the Cap.

I'd part with Bennett even though he appears to be the only real skilled forward we have in the pipeline

I can't see either Sid or Staal being that much of an issue to re-sign as far as the Cap goes.

Sid & Geno already have Cap hits of $8.7Mil/yr. They are the 2nd and 3rd highest in the league, behind OV's contract. Can't see them going any higher; might even go lower depending on the length of the contract.

Staal already has a $4mil/yr Cap Hit. Might go up to $5-$5.5mil/yr or so, but I don't think it goes any higher than that. Only ~$1.5mil/yr in new money so Shero should be able to find that somewhere.

Letang on the other hand...Man, is he underpaid. But at least he is signed for 2 more years.

I think Neal's $5m/year set a nice ceiling for Staal. Hard to justify paying your 3rd line center more than your premiere scoring winger. All said and done Staal may be more important to this team than Neal, but it creates a nice negotiation point for Shero.

Yes, but that 3rd line center could be a 1st line center on alot of teams

very true... anytime you get get top 4 minutes out of a player for two years at $840k is a true win.

I get that... but I was just thinking of a bargaining point in Staal's favor.

I really hope Shero locks him up this summer and doesn't wait. Right now, the 2013 UFA crop is pretty stacked... besides Staal & Crosby, players like Inginla, Perry and Getzlaf are up then too. As those guys get extensions, Staal's value on the open market just rises and rises.

It is a goal scorers league. Staal does a lot of things well, but unless he starts putting up 30G/yr consistently its hard to see him getting more than $5.5mil/yr.

Few tweets making the rounds that Brown may not be up for trading by LA now. Issue seemed to stem from Carter and Brown not getting along, perhaps a hatchet was buried. Or Brown showed him where the parties are.

Jordan's current pace of goals would have netted him 38 this year if he would play all 82 games. He has been in the 20's every year right? And that's in a 3rd line role playing against the top offensive line night in and night out and maybe 30 seconds of PP time a game. Jordan Staal would easily get 5.5 in the market. Ruutu just got 4.75 and isn't nearly the player Staal is

You are correct Staal is a much better player than Ruutu and someone would probably thrown a ton of money at him. But there aren't a lot of guys that get +$6Mil/yr.

At $6Mil/yr the comparable Cap Hits would be the Sedin's, Kane, Toews, etc... I can't quite put Staal into that kind of offensive category until he actually does it consistenly for a season or two.

$10 Million over two years for Hemsky is the funniest thing I've heard in a long, long time. I hope it happens. #whatajoke

Paul Martin, Tangradi, 1st Round Pick 2013 should be enough to get Dustin Brown.

Remember that Paul Martin had an offer on the table from LA before he signed his deal with Pittsburgh (and apparently he took a paycut) so they must like him A LOT.

Another thing to have in mind: LA is built to win in the next 2-3 years the way I see it. Paul Martin fits the bill.

If Edmonton give him this $5 million deal I could honestly say it will be as bad as Leino's contract. (minus a few years)

Considering this how idiotic it was to add Jeff Carter to this team. Hope Brown leaves LA.

Again, you never know with these things, but one would assume that the Kings have watched Martin play since he signed in Pittsburgh.

I have a feeling Nash will sign with either NY or PHI. Both clubs have the assets to land him. If I were CLB I'd start asking for Dubinsky/Staal.

If Philly goes after anything from LA, it should be Bernier

I've thought about that obviously. I still think a lot of teams would be interested in Martin. Or do you prefer to have Bouwmeester or Wisniewski's deals? I sure don't.

I think Nash is the , (pardon the word here), domino that everyone else is waiting for.
