The best we have to offer would include a Morrow or Despres. |

Carter.... A guy that we've repeatedly watched come up small at big moments. Also seems to have some injury problems, plus getting back together with his party buddy from Philly... What could possibly go wrong in LA? - madmike71
Plenty has already gone wrong. GM's need to think of the character of the player as well as the skill. |

I'm in a terrible mood today and reading another "Crosby is skating, but no return date is set" story is just another thing to piss me off today. I'm a freaking Penguins fan and I'm sick and tired of that report. I don't care about Crosby this season. His status, or lack there of, is really old and worn out. Talk about anything else, any one else, but for the love of God stop updating that there is no damn update. I'm actually starting to feel the level of hate that Flyer fans must have for him. Sh*t or get off the pot, bumhole. Go nurse your concussion and give the Pens some cap flexibility to make a trade, or get your stupid mustache on the ice. - simethos
That's fair to say. I couldn't agree anymore. Although I believe he will be back a few weeks before the playoffs. |

I was thinking about Carter this morning... There are some comments made about him here and there in the hockey (Canadian) media, but could you imagine the abuse he'd get if his last name was Carterov?
Seriously, all of anti-Russian stereotypes fit this guy... soft, moody, enigmatic, disappears, no-heart... etc. He be the poster boy of Don Cherry's xenophobic rants if he was born in Omsk, but he is an Onatrio boy, so he mostly gets a pass. |

You wouldn't give Morrow up? Its hard to say or do but when it comes down to crunch time I would pull the trigger. You know what kind of player you are getting out of Brown. Who knows tho. |

If I'm Shero, no way I part with either of those guys. |

id give up despres first over morrow. morrow just looks like he can develop into something a little better, even though its hard to tell now. I think harrington would be good too, especially with the junior world championships on his resume |

We need Despres low cap hit relative to his high level of play. Worth more under a cap system |

I'm not sure... I haven't seen enough of Morrow to know if he is a complete defenseman. While Despres isn't as flashy, he seems like the ideal all around defenseman that can anchor a team for years. Morrow could be that type of player, or he could be an Erik Karlsson/one dimensional type player. |

I remember reading on Tiops a month or so ago that the Pens basically consider Despres and Morrow untouchables.
The Pens are going to need to dump salary at some point to get new contracts for Staal, Sid and Letang. I think they're going to need those guys to come here at entry level contracts to take over for guys like Z and Martin. |

Anyone wanting to know how Joseph Morrow and Dominik Uher play?
Portland Winterhawks Vs. Spokane Chiefs tonight at 10 p.m.
I'll try to catch this game for sure |

Thats basically the package that would be needed to get Brown. Not saying I would do it, or that hes even worth that. Circumstances are different when a player is widely known to be on the block like Brown. You're not just trying to make a trade with the Kings, youre forced to outbid other teams as well.
Part of the reason why the Neal trade worked out so well. I'm pretty sure a lot of GMs were upset he was dealt like he was. Without any leaks. |

I can't see either Sid or Staal being that much of an issue to re-sign as far as the Cap goes.
Sid & Geno already have Cap hits of $8.7Mil/yr. They are the 2nd and 3rd highest in the league, behind OV's contract. Can't see them going any higher; might even go lower depending on the length of the contract.
Staal already has a $4mil/yr Cap Hit. Might go up to $5-$5.5mil/yr or so, but I don't think it goes any higher than that. Only ~$1.5mil/yr in new money so Shero should be able to find that somewhere.
Letang on the other hand...Man, is he underpaid. But at least he is signed for 2 more years. |

I'm not giving up either. They both have huge potential and their rookie contracts are going to have to be utilized in the near future for all of the signings we have to make. Brown is a nice player and would help this team but we would need to send some salary back to them. Despres and Morrow are the untouchable prospects IMO. |

My Dustin Brown offer:
Pens first in 2013
Tyler Kennedy
Eric Tangradi
CBJ's 4th in 2012. (which in reality looks like a high 3rd)
LA gets a servicable winger a year removed from a 20 goal season, 2 good picks and a guy who is still considered a good prospect around the league. |

I don't see how that package saves Lombardi's job. Given that Carter-Johnson trade, I have to think that is first and foremost on Lombardi's mind at the moment. |

I am assuming that is not enough to get it done. I would accept that trade without even blinking, which tells me it isn't enough. I feel it would have to include Niskanen to make it worth LA's time, that being said I'm not even 100% sure that gets it done. I wouldn't be willing to move any of our 3 D prospects for very many deals, but I think a guy like Brown, signed for two more years at a good cap hit, allows me to pull that trigger.

I keep going back and forth with if i would pull the trigger on that, which makes me believe it is a fair deal. |

If the word that Richards and Brown don't get along is true, he may not have a choice. I think the value is about right. When you consider he had to trade a first to get Carter, he's going to want that back at the very least.

I'd consider either Despres or the 1st, but not both. I also think that people here undervalue Tangradi as a prospect based on his small sample of play...

I wouldn't move Despres for anything. Entry level deals are worth their weight in gold to teams up against the Cap. |
