The net gain/loss for the Jackets on that whole situation was giving away Sean Couturier, Voracek, Nick Cousins, and Carter himself for JJ and a 1st. Not exactly a successful venture, but I do give credit for them recovering anything from Carter, who has been a malcontent baby with CBJ with a never ending contract. Howson was in a tough spot and got something, he could have done much worse.

I wouldn't think twice about that deal. Maybe somethings going on with LA since they traded Johnson. Maybe there willing to take a veteran d-man like Martin and his 5 mil contract, but I have no idea what their cap situation is like.

Yeah, the Pens-Stars deal from last year makes me hesitant to dismiss any deal no matter how unlikely/lopsided it might seem.

Do you think a Carter is worth Johnson and a first? I sure in hell wouldnt do that. I don't know much about Johnson but it seems like he's pretty decent but him and a first for Carter? Anythings possible.
