I've thought about that obviously. I still think a lot of teams would be interested in Martin. Or do you prefer to have Bouwmeester or Wisniewski's deals? I sure don't. - Orpik44
I wouldn't particularly want any of those deals. |

I think Nash is the , (pardon the word here), domino that everyone else is waiting for. - ryman1566
Just pack Nash to NY for Dubinsky/Staal. Get it done so we can go after Clutterbuck, Gaustad, Ott or Pahlsson. |

Do you think it would be too much? IMO it would be worth for both clubs. If it's not a 50/50 it's at least a 45/55 (worth trade). |

NYR will look back with regret if they break up what they have now for Nash and it doesn't pay off with a Cup (or at least a deep run). |

True...btw it's time to cut ties with a few players on the Caps roster don't you think? |

Yeah, you'd have to think that there will be a major turnover either by Monday or at the least this offseason. |

After I read some of the comments Hunter made after last game I lost a lot of respect for him. Maybe a coach change will be necessary shortly. |

Staal is a stud. I know Nash is as well then you throw in Dubinsky who is a great player as well and I wouldn't do it. |

You HAD respect for him The comments that I saw were fairly tame, but he certainly doesn't appear to be what this team needed (if any coach could have guided them through this mess).
BTW, a small part of me still wonders if they got Backstrom back and snuck in the playoffs that they might make some noise (sometimes it works out -- see Philly two years ago), but the reality is that the problems appear to run deeper than simply missing the only NHL quality 1st/2nd line center that they have on the roster. |

It would be more along those lines: Dubinsky + any of those (McDonaugh, Girardi or Staal). I just threw in Staal because NY was doind just fine with Gi/McD befor Staal came back. |

Guess it depends on what NY thinks they need. Nash is a terrific player but NY is also in 1st right now so they may not want to mess those dynamics up. Mcdonaugh is a nice player but I really like Staal's game. |

haha I wouldn't say I had "respect" for him but as a young coach I'd given him the benefit of the doubt.
Yeah the Caps are in trouble. I don't see their roster gelling very well. It seems to me that after B.Boudreau changed the playing style the Caps were never the same anymore. Before it was fun to see them scoring many goals...but at the same time it wasn't playoff hockey for most people. |

Is Carter really worth JJ and a 1st? Thought that was a lil steep.
Not sure why the Blues would trade Oshie, but if we can get rid of a certain heavy contract on D, why not. - sammy87
People who are asking that question SERIOUSLY overate Johnson. |

Yeah, the Pens-Stars deal from last year makes me hesitant to dismiss any deal no matter how unlikely/lopsided it might seem. - MadCap2008
Exactly ...I think the only deal Shero has made at the deadline that everyone had pegged was Kovalev and some had Guerin. That said, the Neal deal came out of left field. I do think he, Shero, makes a move and we will be surprised once again. There are some moveable pieces and he is a creative dude.

Well how much do you value Carter and his 10 year contract. I would say he has seriously under performed as well |

Poni was widely circulated as connected to us pre-deadline. |

I think that and his attitude, Carter's that is, are the warts on his resume. However, I would put more money down on Carter performing better - closer to what he is supposed to be performing at, than Johnson. Jack Johnson is an offensive minded defenseman, who cares little about playing defense. He sucks. Sure, he helps the power play in Columbus (LOL). So, he might help for one game or 20 games until Nash gets traded either Monday, or at the draft.
I wouldn't trade Paul Martin for Jack Johnson to be honest.

There is just something amiss about signing Hemsky to a NEW deal that pays him the same amount as Neal. Tambo is a franking idiot for offering him that much. Hemsky's even dumber for letting the ink dry. |

For the next 10 years? The further and further he moves from those 35 and 40 goal seasons the harder it is to move that contract. I'm not a jack johnson fan by any means. |

Yes if that report is accurate he's an idiot. What's he have like 6 goals on the year? |

Edmonton has tried hard to deal Hemsky not only this year, but last year. While they know he is very skilled, they also realize he is fragile and not living up to expectations. Hemsky's play on the ice this year says disinterested. He doesn't want to play in Edmonton. So, what does the idiot GM do? Offer his a two year contract for 5 million per, which is one million more than what he is making for his sorry ass effort this year.
Next year, Edmonton fans, the same ones who are happy about this potential news, will want him gone once again after another underachieving season and will expect Pavel D. type return.
Fact is fact, no premier hockey free agent wants to go to Edmonton. It's almost like the Pittsburgh Pirates of the NHL.
That said, this move further tells me the GM of Edmonton is an idiot. Why such a high price tag on a pending UFA who is having a terrible season and doesn't want to be there? |

My two favorite name out there are Mason Raymond and David Jones. Both could be great additions to the pens. Also, did anyone else see people saying we had interest in ryan malone? |
