I do like the thought of adding Dustin Brown to the Preds roster. I would think a 1st round pick, a prospect like Watson and a Hustlechuck would be a fair price to pay. Yes, it's pricy, but...I would be all for that trade.

Never happen with that.....

unproven prospect, demoted prospect & 1st round

for

their Captain who scores 60+ @$3.5 for 2 more years

- buelleo

LA is in no position to take on any significant salary. Blum was demoted because he got in Trotz dog house. Send him back to CA where he has family to keep him straight and he will be a top 4 NHL defense man. Watson is a former 1st round draft pick that is 6'4" and still projected to be a top 9 forward, and this years pick who knows. I may be over valuing our guys here but Brown still only has 16 goals this season. This isn't Nash that we'd be trading for.

It was suggested on Twitter by @RLDhockey that Nashville could offer Colin Wilson, Jon Blum & 1st for Brown? What does everyone think of that? I hate to lose Wilson just based on how he has been playing and only being 21 but Brown is a 60 point guy who is under contract for another 2 years.

I'd much rather just keep Wilson.

Mike Milbury called Brown "lazy" on the broadcast the other day. Not a Predator trait.

Hey Preds!! Score 3!! Repeat after me...MUST SCORE THREE...MUST SCORE...

he aint lazy. hes tougher than 90% of our team around the net, hes a leader, he scores goals primarily cause he shoots the puck and goes to the net. if any combo of prospects, picks or low level roster player ( hustlechuk, bourque) will get him then we arent serious if we dont get him now. if it takes a big roster contributor then im fine if we pass.

I don't recall seeing any Kings' scouts at the last couple of games. Montreal, Florida, Winnipeg and one other that slips my mind where there the other night. The Florida scout has been at the last two games.

EDIT: Just remembered, Dallas was the other team.

The Kings are tight on the cap. I think Bernier and either Brown or Penner will have to be moved. Watson, Blum, and 1st rounder is doable. Look at what we gave up for Fisher.

Weiss??? My vote would be Goc but I never wanted him to leave.

I wonder if Suter has spoken to Ward about how the greener pastures are treating him???

This will make you happy....

"The Edmonton Oilers have a two year deal on the table for forward Ales Hemsky. Hemsky is currently considering the deal.

From what I hear, the deal could be for $5.5mil per season"

I have to believe the impending collective bargaining negotiations and expected salary rollbacks to come are pumping up a lot of these contracts. GMs can over pay now knowing it'll get cut back in whatever deal the league and NHLPA make.

From Eric Engels' blog

As for rumors of the Canadiens trying to swap Kostitsyn for Alex Radulov's rights out of Nashville, I'd label that a long-shot.

Um, how about no shot. That will never happen.

Don't believe the Preds offered either of them a contract, did they?

On to today's gripes:
1 - As this was Arnott's first appearance back since he left, why was there not a tribute for him. I know we haven't done that for some players, but the man was our Captain and played for us "sometimes" at a high level. Come on Preds - that was class-less.
2 - They have got to find someone other than Kortney to be an announcer. Her voice pierces -- it is too high and sweaky for an arena. Have nothing else against her, she's a lovely young woman, but the voice has got to go.
3 - My boy Legwand continue to amaze me (and others) at his lack of cognitive abilites and his lack of sense of direction in passing pucks to others (on our team). How I wish we could trade him, but alas, he is BT's golden boy.

Goc was offered but not sure on Ward. If DP did offer Ward, it a lowball offer like Goc's

I think the Predators try to portray themselves as a more established franchise than they are with more history than they have.

As I was pondering the idea of an Arnott tribute my thought process was:

How many other, older teams would do a video tribute for someone who played 4 seasons? I don't think many. Then again, 4 seasons is a pretty significant part of Predators history.

So, it probably would have been a decent gesture by the Predators for the team they are, but perhaps they viewed it as not fitting of the team they want to be.

Arnott got in Trotz's doghouse because he was lazy. Wouldn't play if dinged up, not even in the playoffs.
Not Captain material particularly with his high salary.
I don't think the players missed him as well.

Where's all this Arnott love coming from?
Geez, he was an awful "leader", he came, he under-achieved and was shown the door just shy of stripping him of his C.

Both Suter and Weber are friends with Radulov. He would be welcomed back. Let's hope his season in the KHL ends soon (Regular season ends in 2 days) and he shows up here.

According to 104.5. DP has traded Smithson to FL Panthers for a 6th draft pick in 2012 draft.

Man, I know I was the leader of the "bench Smithson" pack....but, I have to admit, hearing that he was traded makes me very, very sad. Was hoping that he'd becoming part of the coaching staff, instead. I love that guy.
