From anecdotal evidence, Nash was not happy with Carter. It's been hinted that one of the factors was Carter's open-and continued- unhappiness with being in Columbus that really wore down Nash.

From a pure hockey standpoint, one could say that Nash might benefit more from playing with a guy like Richards more, but one could also point out that both Carter and Hartnell posted career highs in goals when they were on a line with Lupul.

How much did Carter and Richards even play together last season? Even the season before that? I remember Richards being moved down to the 3rd line a bunch.

one could also say holmler was a bad apple for burning both of them right before their NTCs kicked in
people are being held to different standards imo

Depending on the actual reasoning behind the initial trades, which we will probably never know, it might be said that they burned themselves.

So basically, no specific title so he's free to write whatever he wants.

It's something I got into a discussion with MOAT about on twitter a few weeks ago, and I thought he made an interesting case. Timmy P is a prime example of what he termed the "new media". In a time when we have newspaper columns, online articles, blog posts, twitter, intermission spots, and whatever else you can name, a guy like Tim has to be a product that fits into all of these things. With that comes the expectation of injecting his own "personality". There was probably a bit more to his argument, but that's the jist of it.

So, from a certain perspective (one I share, more or less), yes, he's a guy who can write whatever he wants about the Flyers. One can argue it's bad for the sport, or that it's just wrong, but it's the way media is right now.

Fair. Holmgren has a responsibility to the Philadelphia Flyers, not to any individual player. His job depends on the success of the team. If he believes trading any player makes the team better it's his job and it's what he gets paid to do. We may not agree with what he does, (and I certainly haven't agreed with everything he has done). But at the end of the day, Holmgren's loyalty is to the Organization, not to any player.

A handful of games. Carter spent more time with Giroux and JvR

Richards did a lot of good things for the Flyers organIzation. Being captain was not really one of them imo. I think the brass thought he'd grow into the role. We'll never know the full story, but I wonder how much Richards even wanted it.

what are you talking about? he was the captain of his junior team, was the captain of the world junior team. He did fit the role well. he played in any situation and led by example. made the hits, dropped the gloves, scored the goals...

No, no, that far across the alignments. Tman means Demon's Advocate. You were representing Lawful Evil while he is being the voice of Chaotic Evil.

The cause of the trades will be debated for years. With this city's TMZ and drama driven media, innuendo becomes fact and minor things get turned into major issues and normal behavior for single, wealthy 25 year old guys gets turned into Motley Crue on a lost weekend.

There's likely no one reason why the players who were traded were traded. I'm sure there were valid hockey reasons, cap reasons and off ice reasons that led to the moves. I'm also certain that Holmgren got input from all levels of the organization prior to making the moves.

As for what has occurred following the trades, one could argue that Carter was screwed by the Flyers and had a right to be upset. One could also argue that Carter should have been a lot more professional in hsi approach following the trade. Guess what? There's a lot of truth to both points of view.

That's why I'm not mad at Richards or Carter, and will root for them to have success in LA, short of beating the Flyers.

The Booth one I will never like. I didn't have a problem with the Petroviky (sp?) one.
