If Carter was so miserable in Columbus he was more than free to retire from the NHL and pursue any field he wished, in any city. It is a free country. As long as he was under contract to play for the Columbus Blue Jackets, it's his responsibility to show up for work and do his job.

At least he left on a high note. Hatty with the GWG.

Random question:

Is an all wheel drive car way better in snow than a front wheel drive car with traction control and vehicle stability assist? I live in rural PA so the winters aren't terrible by any means, but I want something that I think the family feels safer in (than my current '04 Civic). I want the new Impreza, but it's a little more costly than I'd like, and am wondering if a cheaper 2wd sedan could be pretty much as good in inclement weather.

i got a 2010 subaru legacy awd and i love it in the snow its the best lol

can't go wrong with a subaru there the best. i had a WRX STI for 3 years and had zero problems and it handled great in the inclement weather

The fact that Howson decided to trade him 40 games into his tenure with the team?
- PLindbergh31

fair point

but from a hockey standpoint did you have any faith that Carter was the answer for a center for Nash?

i sure didnt

maybe it just wasnt meshing... or maybe you're right about him mailing it in.. but i dont know if that's fair to just say

10 / A Billion / 6

The first and third numbers might be off, though. Counting the Shelley bashings took a LOT of effort.

In Tim's article on the trade, he says:

and then states three times that Nash would have been the better choice in LA, twice utilizing the phrase "I feel" -

Bitter much? Good for Carter to go to LA. I wish him all the best.

He's a "correspondent", I think. I can think of some more accurate terms, but I don't think they're CoC friendly.

AWD will definitely help in heavier snow, but my experience up here in VanCity is that the tires make the difference. Both our vehicles are FWD. Michelin X-Ice on the Mazda 3 and Bridgestone Blizzaks on my Sante Fe. 5 inches of snow is np and the ice gripping is great.

The fact Howson had to go down to SIC and smoke Carter out of his bunker was the first sign that it wasn't going to work.

Carter isn't a traditional playmaker, so it isn't the perfect fit playing him on a line with Nash, but he could have hung in there, been a good soldier and been part of the solution, instead of part of the problem. Just my .02

From anecdotal evidence, Nash was not happy with Carter. It's been hinted that one of the factors was Carter's open-and continued- unhappiness with being in Columbus that really wore down Nash.

From a pure hockey standpoint, one could say that Nash might benefit more from playing with a guy like Richards more, but one could also point out that both Carter and Hartnell posted career highs in goals when they were on a line with Lupul.
