It's an effort issue, not a talent issue on the PK.

Also, the Flyers would have to make a move before they place a claim for a player on waivers.

- bradleyc4

I think the PK is an issue only because we've been pushing only 4 forward as regulars on it for most of the season (Giroux, Talbot, Couturier, Read). We've sprinkled Voracek in there the odd PK since Giroux's injury and now we've given Wellwood a try but I think we should have established a 3rd PK unit along time ago. If I'm not mistaken, when Steven was coaching and the Flyers took a complete 360 from our last place season. We had 3 units that looked like this.

Richards-Gagne
Dowd-Kapanen
Carter-Umburger/Hartnell (depending if a guy was in the box or sitting out)

We were more prepared in this area.

I vaguely remember.... Seems as if there is less bickering lately in the threads, could just be me though.

What are you talking about? The Flyers were playing with MAB/Gus/Lilja for a long stretch and winning. They went out and decided to add veterans bc of the struggles the team was having on defense and in net lately. At that time they had a choice. You can let the kids play and learn or upgrade. They choose to upgrade bc they want to try and contend and not head in the opposite direction in the standings (which they are doing). If you believe this team is a "TRUE" contender then you obviously wont agree with my statements. Who said the "sky is falling"?
- stveshdy

There is nothing to agree with in your statement. We went down on slot in the standings, so what. We can easily move up at anytime. The deadline hasn't even passed and frankly I think we should add another forward and keep the defense just the way it is. No if's and's or but's.

I'm sorry, moving Carle wouldn't be a smart move no matter how you explain your point. You cansay it in French, Spanish or Chinese and my answer will still be the same.

No question. Although I would like to see Giroux's PK workload lifted. Another forward who can kill penalties would be a big help.

does anyone think the kings would take carle for brown or voracek and wellwood for brown?

I've been asking for that for weeks.

Probably something they'll look at in the offseason.

Im not trying to change your answer. Just giving a different opinion on the situation.

I take total blame, I know better then to mention "Matt Carle" on this board. Sorry.

I'm not at all huge Matt Carle fan. It doesn't matter the name. You want to divide from the defense, heading into the playoffs for the sack of the future.

When we traded Mike Richards for Wayne Simmonds and Brayden Schenn, we made that deal for the future as well as right now. Brayden Schenn is still consider a prospect but he still helps our team moving forward.

Moving anyone of our Dmen wouldn't be a good idea. Do you understand?

Depends on what the Flyers have to give up to get another forward who can kill penalties.

I think they're too enamored with the short-handed scoring potential he provides rather than focusing on the task at hand, which is killing the (frank)ing penalty.

g also seems to have lost a considerable amount of defensive zone awareness as the year has gone on. been pretty bad to borderline dreadful over the last couple months in that regard, imo.

btw, meant to say to you that coby is the epitome of a guy whose value cannot be reasonably judged based on what i see. i want to kill him every night. every. night.

True. I think this is going to be the team for the rest of the year, for better or worse.

Yeah, I need to check out Coby's advanced stats to see if they match up to the eye test.

Will see if their good enough to contend. They sit currently at the 6th spot which would probably benefit them come playoff time. Things can change but were getting near the end of the season and I dont see improvement from where they currently were. PK, Goalie, Defense continues to be an issue.

Of course I do. I'm an editor.

How about resign when they mean re-sign? And all the homophones (There, they're, their...here, hear). It's a good thing my eyes are attached or they'd roll right out of my head!
