Wow... Really?

1. Anyone can play the PK, but it doesnt mean they would be good at it... i dont believe I have Ever seen Hartnell on a PK, unless it was out of pure despiration.

2. The CON is that you lose that chemistry, not that the chemistry is a con...

- RooNosHockey

Just because you haven't seen it doesn't mean it was there.

In Chris Pronger's last a game as a Flyer in Winnipeg, Scott Hartnell was playing the PK that very game. He was blamed directly for the first or second goal, which was scored on the Power Play. Scott Hartnell also played a lot of PK his first season as a Flyer in the playoffs next to Jeff Carter. This was back when we were using more then 2 units on the PK.

You see a lot of things that I don't. I haven't seen Briere centering Hartnell and Voracek at all this season but you claimed it was tested. I know it wasn't.

None whatsoever, I'd imagine.

Given he's been a competent PK player, and since the PK has been a joke for a month now, you would think they would be looking at everything.

No cause I wouldnt of traded for both defenseman.

Because you think we should give up on the season even though we've been hanging on to the 4th spot in the east for over a month. We get shut out last night and drop to 5th and now the sky is falling. Throw the season because we're not a contender.

Antti Miettinen placed on waivers today. Wonder if the Flyers would have any interest. He was a name that many brought up in the summer.

well since Bartulis hasn't played hockey in basically two years, a bag of pucks would be an overpayment for him.

Here's the pros and cons as I see it:

PROS
1) Brown is three years younger
2) Brown is $1.1 M cheaper on the cap
3) Brown is signed for longer than Hartnell (a UFA at end of 2012-13)
4) Brown kills penalties, while Hartnell does not play PK
5) Brown's normal production rate is similar to Hartnell's
6) Brown is a captain in LA and could also be a captain here

CONS
1) Hartnell is having a better 2011-12 season by far
2) Hartnell is extremely popular in dressing room and a unifying presence
3) Hartnell and Giroux have established tremendous chemistry
4) Hartnell has a no-trade clause
5) Hartnell has compiled more playoff experience, including run to finals here
6) Hartnell relieves pressure on less talkative players by willingly going in front of the cameras and microphones during bad times. He knows by heart the pressures of playing in Philly. Brown has played in much lower-pressure market.

Yep. They can trade a Phantom for a 7th round pick to clear a contract slot.

It's an effort issue, not a talent issue on the PK.

Also, the Flyers would have to make a move before they place a claim for a player on waivers.

One of my fave moments was when a prisoner, Mr. Kapechne, claimed he was a werewolf and some of the men were starting to believe that maybe he was.

He jumped up on the cell bars and started wailing and barking.

What are you talking about? The Flyers were playing with MAB/Gus/Lilja for a long stretch and winning. They went out and decided to add veterans bc of the struggles the team was having on defense and in net lately. At that time they had a choice. You can let the kids play and learn or upgrade. They choose to upgrade bc they want to try and contend and not head in the opposite direction in the standings (which they are doing). If you believe this team is a "TRUE" contender then you obviously wont agree with my statements. Who said the "sky is falling"?
