Ur kidding rite, if you think playing with scrubs on the 4th line is gonna show case his talents with 5mins of ice time a game. Then u know jack about hockey.
Juniors would do nothing for him bc he dominated for 2 years straight with improving his game. He needs to get more NHL experience. Who cares about stats when ur building his confindence or lack there of. Watch closely bud, other than Martin & Hamonic, Nino actually throws checks to opposing players, something the isles lack.......................

- Ur Not Me

Thank you, u are correct again. I don't understand the other side of this argument. NOBODY could put up points with Reasoner or Pandawful. The kid doesn't look bad and sets up those scrubs at least two times per game and they never finish.

Uif hit it on the head with his post. Read that one. I really think his lack of defensive play is what keeps him on 4th line. I don't think they trust him with more ice time
- Isles316

As opposed to Brian Rolston or the rest of that team for that matter? Seriously, this is a lame argument. The coaching staff not trusting his defensive game, have you been watching this team play lately?

Nothing. Which is exactly why he should never have been put on the NHL roster this season. It was a complete mistake. The kid wasted an entire year of development sitting on the bench for 52 minutes/game and playing with garbage like Wallace, Pandolfo and Reasoner when he actually got a shift. I don't want to hear anything about Nino benefitting from the "experience" of being up and playing against men. The kid got destroyed this year. He accomplished nothing. Snow made a huge mistake putting him on the Isles and not sending him back to Portland.

But, I must say, if we're going to play the game of "what did he do to deserve more ice time", what exactly has Rolston done to earn more ice time and time on the 2nd PP unit and a top three line this year? Nothing. He got that time because "he's a vet", which is entirely stupid because if you're going to rush a kid to the NHL like they did with Nino (and with Bailey in '08), you at least have to let him play and give him a chance with decent players.

- Jethro09

correct, leaving him on the fourth line and with limited playing time is assinine. Just trade the kid for (frank)s sake

I don't care if he's playing with PEEWEE freakin HERMAN. He has show more of being a complete palyer than he is to earn ice time. That's what developing a player is all about. They need to take their time with him or he will turn into a Bailey. Nino got hurt at training camp and never really had a proper training camp which i believe has effected his play, confidence etc....

It's not a lame argument. Nino has one freaking point and is terrible in his own zone. He picks up the wrong buying back checks or simply doesn't pick up anyone. He runs around lost otherwise. He does try to be physical which is a plus. He should have never made the team if he is going to be buried on the 4th line.

Rolston is a different argument, he should be sitting in the press box and should have been for months already.

The analysis is very simple: You have two guys. One is a 19 year old kid with tremendous upside, who by all accounts factors significantly into the team's future. The other is a 38-year old veteran who is on the last year of his deal and will not wear an Isles sweater again past April. Both guys are on the NHL roster for certain reasons, even if they don't belong on it (Nino because he can't moved to AHL, need of salary for cap purposes; Rolston because they need his cap number). NEITHER GUY IS PLAYING WELL AT ALL. If you're the Islanders management and coaching staff, its not really rocket science to understand that under these circumstances, Nino should be playing on the third line and Rolston should be cut, but if he's not going to be cut, he should see only fourth line minutes.

Its scary that this analysis is as obvious as it is, yet this team's management and coaching staff don't see it.

- Jethro09

They see it...........but the bottom line is they know the season means nothing, so they would rather let Nino learn whatever he can while playing with guys who've been around the block. They wont tell you that because they wanna try and sell tickets, etc.........but based on the moves this organization has done its become very obvious to me that this season is done.

You will not be waving bye bye to Garth anytime soon. Look how long it took Milbury to get out of the organization and he left on his own terms, Wang didnt fire him. Garth will not ever get fired, it just wont happen. There are times where I think Snow sucks as a GM, but then I try to put into perspective that his hands are tied by our nutbag owner. We all know Garth doesnt have "an open wallet" and certainly is Wangs "yes man." I really think our issues are caused by our owner and then there is a trickle down effect.
Again, nothing with any significance will happen with the NYI until the arena situation is sorted out.

Predictable, but:

Arthur Staple @StapeNewsday
Nabokov in goal, Hamonic in, Cizikas centering Rolston and Martin; Bailey (back spasms) out for #Isles tonight vs. #NYR

- UIF

Feel bad. Cizikas debut gets ruined by playing with rolston. I would rather get the flu then play on his line

Why is he not at the Bridge, ripping up the A.??
- bixll

Nino not allowed to play full time at bridgeport. It's either jrs or NHL. Same with strome. As was the case with bailey in early years.

Nino should have been in juniors this year. The thing that gets me is that before he got hurt during camp he was expected to play on the first line with JT. So he got hurt, came back and somehow ends up on the fourth line all year? What the hell.

I won't see the game tonight, normally I'd put aside anything else I'm doing to watch but I can't be bothered after the last two pitiful efforts. Just not worth it if I have something better to do. I'll make a decision about center ice next year after I see what they do with the UFA period this summer. No signings, no paying for center ice. I'm done spending money and time on this team if the owner won't do it either.

I agree about Nino, if the plan was to put him on the 4th line and surround him with wash-ups so he could struggle for the season with no help.

But I think Garth really expected Rolston to be like Billy Guerin was, and actually CONTRIBUTE to the team instead of just being the token-veteran-with something-left-in-the-tank guy 2012. Mr. Rolston, you cried that Lou didn't give you the ice time. You sold a brilliant line of BS and got Garth to swap out two years of paying Cement-foot Hunter in exchange for you. NEWSFLASH: Your tank is so empty there's not even a whiff of fumes left. And if it weren't for Wade Redden, you would absolutely, by a f'in mile be the most over paid player in professional hockey. Does Charles know how many starving children around the world he could have fed with the 5 million bucks WASTED on just Rolston alone? Excuse me while I go puke, just from thinking about it. There is quite a measure of denial this team's management is living in.... Let's hope Nino goes back for Junior playoffs and gets some confidence restored.

I remember the first time my team was in first place. I thought I was pretty hot sh*t too. People with class act like they've been there before. Don't plan the parade just yet.
