I posted this in the Kings' thread, may as well post it here too...

"Listen bro, as a Habs fan you're hardly in any position to sling sh1t.

Honestly, the idea of Carter coming to T.O. was certainly intriguing and might have been a cool story, but to be honest, many Leafs fans could care less.

Personally, I'm hoping that T.O. becomes a seller and drops into a lottery position as the Leafs are only 7 points from doing so. Even IF the Leafs SCRAPE into the playoffs, are they really going to be doing any damage? No.

1. Cut the fat before the trade deadline
2. Acquire solid prospects and draft picks
3. Better our 1st round draft pick(s)
4. Call up some players and give some of our younger guys some experience
5. Fire Wilson's ass after the final game
6. Pursue Parise in the off season
7. Pursue a #1 goalie in the off season (Offer sheet Price )
8. Pursue a #1 center in the off season
9. Fill other gaps in the off season
10. Look toward the 2012-2013 season

THAT IS WHAT THIS TEAM NEEDS TO DO!!!"

Go Leafs.

so if I understand you want a coach who can get you to the playoffs but you don't want Ron Wilson to make the playoffs so he gets fired.

not really at all.

the leafs haven't won a cup in 44 years. i'm more concerned with building something that can legitimately count as championship competitive material than i am with making the playoffs.

the playoffs don't mean squat for this team, other than the idea of getting hyped for an additional 4 games.

but on wilson. i don't think he's the coach for this team in the now, in the future, or in the last 3 years. he's a failure in my mind on all accounts, for this team.

Really, pal, what kind of person consistently delights in the misfortunes of others?

As for Burke and the rebuild, Ken Holland, Jimmy D., or even Jesus Christ could not have rebuilt in less than 5 years the mess that Burke inherited. Just shut your trap for a change, would you, instead of constantly chirping your two bit crap?

- triggermartin

to be fair, burkie ruled out a rebuild from day 1. he figured all this franchise needed was a slight retool, and go from there. it is what it is.

think about it.. 7 years of missing the playoffs. how many years did pittsburgh need to get where they got? chicago?

even edmonton or LA, to put together the cores they have?

... missed opportunity, at the fanbases expense.

I'm pretty sure you'd want all those guys on the 2nd youngest team in the NHL to get a few playoff games under their belt before that magical coach who will run the table shows up.

Wilson's not the most likeable guy but he's also not exactly coaching the Detroit Red Wings here.

If your goalie doesn't give up three grapefruits last game and you're still in 8th you still want to throw the season? what about a few weeks back when your goalie was making the saves and you were in 6th? you wanted to throw the season then?

couldn't be more wrong.

making the playoffs mean nothing for this team..

would never suggest tanking. would prefer moves that land talented young potential core players that benefit this team in the next 2-4 years. if better drafting fits into that mentality, so be it. i'm all for it.

we arent used to being in a playoff spot and fighting for it ok!! we are used to hoping for other teams to suck for the leafs to get in... NOT the leafs sucking to let others in

sure, playoff experience for the kids. so what kind of beneficial experience is it if the kids get absolutely crushed? there's a line in there somewhere..

i've never suggested throwing the season. i'm suggesting working with what we have on the table with the near future first thing on the brain.

ie.. not selling the entire team, and sacrificing decent draft picks for flatout panic moves. understand?

Thats the part that gets me - the bottom of the East is so wide open right now
WPG looked dead just a couple weeks ago and now they are the #3 seed in the East - hell if MTL wins their next 4 they are right back in it -

if the Leafs win their next 4 they may be challenging for the division lead - its wide open - Leafs don't need to tank - they desperately need to make the playoffs more than any other team in the NHL

I just want everyone to know that no matter who would be coaching... The deficiencies of this team would be apparent, were young and inexperienced.

Not to say Ron has done an outstanding job... But he's just playing the cards he has... How did he win so many games with San Jose?

Ottawa has greater veteran presence on their roster so I do not accept that as a valid example of a coaching change significantly bettering a team (Alfredsson, Spezza, Michalek, Gonchar etc.)

respectfully disagree,

i see that mentality as it stands now, but i just don't understand what it does for the leafs. if we can get into the playoffs, sweet. but there's bound to be a downside to it.

are the leafs going to contend for a championship if they make the playoffs? then why the panic stance that they HAVE to make the playoffs? why? so the youngest team in the league can be educated on what a playoff slaughter feels like?

i'm a fan of working with the situation. if getting into the playoffs is possible, and we can make some positives out of it. cool. do we panic to make the playoffs? why??

the situation presents an interesting deadline day though...

No body is interested in backing into the playoffs and more than likely getting slaughtered by the Rangers or Bruins. Even the Leafs got by the first round by some miracle, they won't escape the 2nd.

It sucks, but it's better for the team in the long term. For far too long Leafs Management and Leafs fans have been impatient and it has cost us dearly over the years. Look at all the top teams in today's NHL and think about how they got there... PATIENCE! NOT ONE of the contending teams out there built their team via trades. All the contenders also hold another characteristic in common, GOALTENDING!... Toronto doesn't have any that can be relied on.

While Burke will more than likely take a lot of heat for missing Carter for a 2nd time, it just might have been a great move. It APPEARS that Burke is demostrating some patience here and I support him 100%. I just hope that with all of these other trades going on around him that he doesn't hit the panic button and do something stupid.

Y'know... when we lost tonight, I was pissed off. I realized there wasn't Goddamned thing I can do about it. I griped to Nessa for a few minutes and then played video games. I'm over the loss... you, however, step back from that ledge my friend. *get's sued from 3rd Eye Blind*

There is a culture of losing around TML - they need to shake that - and making the playoffs is first step - so if they finish 9th instead of 8th they get a better draft spot by 1 or 2 picks - negligible - this is BBs 4th year - he needs to make the playoffs -

As a total aside I believe that he and RW have handled Kadri's development poorly

All this blame I hear around Allaire is a bit out there - he was was the same goalie coach last year -
