The food is still good, but they created a more uppity atmosphere. The parking is atrocious though and there's always a wait. I usually don't end up going because it's not that good to be willing to wait for.

Which is how much different from your local Starbucks, panera bread, etc
And as far as "chain restaurants" go
Grab a burger from Applebee's or Friday's & then hit up Pearl street or Coles and tell me there's not a huge difference!
In general, mom & pop restaurants crush chain.food

its not, that's why i don't go to Starbucks, Panera, ect.

And that's my whole point, mom and pop restaurants are fine, better than fine a lot of time, but its the people who go there and turn their nose up at places like Fridays or Applebees that rub me the wrong way.

Pano's still has their "diner" menu...
But now has a nice dinner menu too
I know the owner's sons...
They did the remodel & close at 1 now bc they got sick of college kids starting fights & puking on the tables
