Well if we make a play for the playoffs next year, would Hemsky not be valuable to us?
- Jack-artist

I wouldn't risk paying him big bucks in the hope that he's healthy by that time.

If we can get a return like we did for Beauchemin, I would trade him. Only because there are rumors that he wants 5+ million a season.

Does Burke's ego do that though? Risk not making the playoffs?

5 mil....thats a mil for each goal hes scored this year. Rid yourselves of him, hes always injured and you can at least get a first for him.

look at that list of injuries

I don't understand how Burke can justify dealing him unless he is getting a better player back.
- Lahey

He can't. We'll go from having a good 2nd line center and no 1st line center to have no top 6 centers

Only if he thinks Connolly can step up and fill that second line hole. And he might be able to, he wasnt too bad when playing on the top two lines.

It's not even that much. You're making it seem it's a Horcoff deal. Hell, freaking Smyth's cap hit this year is 6.2.

I would tell TOR and EDM to run from Grabovski and Hemsky if both players expect 5M+ from the current teams.

Gagner is RFA...whatever Hemsky gets resigned for...Gagner will be sniffing around that mark too...2-3 year max for Hemsky, 3-5 year for Gagner...both at 3.5-4.5M per year. Then Oilers will be dealing with Hall and Eberle sniffing for $5-7M. Horcoff's contract just a sticking out like a sore thumb

Dear Oilers blogger:

In all honesty, I hope your statement is true....

Hemsky: 3 years for 5+ million

Sounds like a great deal to me... I'm sure we all wish we could have a player of Hemsky's quality on all of our favorite teams. Hemsky is known worldwide for his heavy shot, turning defenders inside out, fearless attitude, great passing and the game breaking presence that warrants such a big pay day. I personally would suggest 5 years @ 5.5 million.

May the new found energy in your Hemsky signing bring your team the greatness of the 80's Oilers team with a dash of take on the world Hemsky attitude.

All the best,

Cheers

Tut tut tut... Jack-artist, Jack-artist, Jack-artist... Two wrongs does not make a right. You cannot evaluate the value of others based on guys like Horcoff... If that were the case, Gagner would be getting 10 million right now.

Let's say Hemsky resigns...what happens to Omark? What would you think the Oilers do with their 1st round pick? Think big Oilers fans...
- deks1

Another fanboy of Omark who figures he's an easy substitute for Hemsky. When are people going to get their heads out of their bums on this?

Stop being eklund and post the (frank)ing source.

Jason Gregor ‏ @JasonGregor

Hearing Hemsky would consider a 2-year deal at $10-11 million. If I'm the Oilers I sign him to that. Win-win for both prior to RNH new deal.

Good luck getting Clouts to quote or cite anything. He figures because he's not MSM he doesn't need to follow the rules. At some point his total stealing of ideas or 'clever' made up quotes on Twitter will burn him. Somehow he figures that because he isn't MSM, he's better than everyone and basic courtesy/integrity don't apply to him.

5M over the next 2-3 years should be fine for the Oil considering Smyth's cap hit will drop next year and Khabby's will come off the books the year after. Only worrisome part is if the cap drops due to the new CBA agreement

Personally I like to see Omark go, as I stated I don't think Oilers have a suitable replacement for Hemsky in the organization. I would suggest Oilers resign Hemsky to a fair amount for both sides, as long as EDM is not giving into the Hemsky camp. Otherwise Omark replace Hemsky, yes, maybe, no...Omark hasn't proven anything to date other than a few flashy moves and short stint last season. He'll come at a lower cost than Hemsky, but nothing to show he can have the potential to be a PPG player.

I'm just saying it's not too much money for him, especially if it's only for two years. He's played most of the year injured, and he still drives offense and creates chances every game. Recently, he's healthier, and producing like he has before. I don't mind the signing because he gives us another scoring option if one of the golden boys goes down with injury or hits a slump.

Because one season doesn't make a career and they know what he can do when healthy

Possible, as NSH is really holding onto Ellis tight, so Blum could be on the out since they also acquired Gill. It'll be a Omark+ deal, don't think NSH would do Omark for Blum. Omark, Peckham or Barker or Plante can maybe get it done.
