Richard are you just speculating on this or have you heard it from somewhere. I've checked around and haven't seen anything anywhere else.... just wondering.

Never thought of that...it could work.

From what I've heard a limited NTC will be part of the deal.

Clouts...where are you hearing this? Not doubting you at all...just curious...??

Wow if he is signed, then that leaves Carter, Nash, Grabo?

So.... who goes then? Horcoff

Top 6?:

Hall/Nuge/Eberle
Smyth/Gagner/Hemsky

- Poolchamp

And exactly how does Horcoff go?
Couldn't give him away.

PRV package may get you a Ellis deal before Hemsky does. Only because PRV is so much younger and i could see him in the Nashville system. Outside of D to develope there is some good forwards in the EDM system.
- poisondhearts37

We do not need a shrimp dman in Ellis... this has been stated before we have ENOUGH SMALL players on this team... plus PVR is showing glimpses of improving from his stint in the AHL... He just needs time to polish things a bit... I want him on this team... speed size... stuff every team wants... Ellis is just as unproven as PVR... NSH would have to add... otherwise that is fine... enjoy the 1st round exit...

What about Hemsky's past 5 years makes them think he is worth 5M per season with the amount of young talent on this team.

He has injuries, his inconsistent play, only has 20+ goals twice.

He does have some very nice assist seasons I will give them that.

5 million per is simply too much. So much for the "hometown discount."

Considering Hemsky's injuries, I'd value him at 4 million at most. Given his supposed hard-on for Edmonton, and his desire to remain with the team long-term, he should be suggesting 3-3.5 for say 5 years.

- laughs2907

This is what I dont understand about some fans. All I ever hear from EDM fans is that Hemsky is a PPG player, but when it comes time to pay him, he is only worth 4 mil? Doesnt make sense.

Good... We can move on then... I would rather keep Hemmer than get a low ball offer or something like all the low ball offers we are hearing from other teams fans anyway...

Stop being eklund and post the (frank)ing source.

Jason Gregor ‏ @JasonGregor

Hearing Hemsky would consider a 2-year deal at $10-11 million. If I'm the Oilers I sign him to that. Win-win for both prior to RNH new deal.

Like I said this team is paying Cam Barker 2.25 mil to sit in the pressbox or play bottom pairing. An extra mil on Hemsky for another two years in which a bounce back is likely isn't a bad idea.

is this bc no one really wants him or asking price is too high?? Even though some fans would like to see him on a different team...

cough pens cough

- nh4442

The biggest issue was he wanted 4-5 years at 5-6mil for most the year. The Oilers didn't even want to talk when that came up. Hemsky wants to be here, he has a lot of ties to the city and likes it. He all of a sudden says I can think about a 2-3 year deal and the Oiler are all ears.

I'd think that this isn't the best time in Nashville to be dumping a blue chip defenseman prospect with Suter and Weber's UFA years looming.
- Lohaus

NSH will not trade Ellis until Suter's situation is resolved. It's a good idea for Hemsky to be resigned. There really isn't a proven RW on the 2nd line for the Oilers if he is traded. It's a different question if Hemsky didn't want to stay in EDM, but since he does, hammer out the deal...2-3 years max, $4-4.5M. Fans, Hemsky camp, Oilers GM can argue what price and term, but I think every since is looking at Ruutu and Neal's recent deals as judgement.

Well in all honesty 4mil for a 40gp PPG players is about right, no?

Now this does make sense. But 5 mill is a lot cheaper than I thought Hemsky would go for. I thought he would get a Cammalleri sized contract if he went UFA, so getting him at 5 mill wouldnt be a bad deal at all.

Of COURSE IT MAKES SENSE! Injuries have to be factored in. If he was an healthy player, I wouldn't have any problem with giving him 5 mil per...

I am not shocked about the dollars to be honest. It's the fact that he is even thinking about a 2 year deal.

It was talked before if you are Hemsky and you have the injury history you have, what is better;

5 years at 4mil
or
2 years at 6mil

That's a difference of 8mil, which you'd think over 3 years you'd be able to make it up, but what happens when you continue to have this injuries for the next two years? You might not make that 8mil over 3 years.

I will gain a lot of respect if Hemsky signs a two year deal with us.

Im just saying, for over a year I have been reading in here about how awesome Hemsky is, and how he is so valuable in a trade, with no regard to his injury history. Yet when it comes time to pay him, suddenly his injury history is very relevant.
