Recently he has been MUCH better than Phaneuf, Liles and Gardiner defensively. Either way all our defencemen make tons of bad mistakes including Franson

He's pretty poor defensively though; not sure if he'll ever really be more than a #4 guy. Love his shot though; wish he played on the 1st PP unit instead of Phaneuf but that's never going to happen.

i just wish he would start going to the net once he uses his speed to get by a defender instead of just shooting it from the outside.

If the leafs played a proper defensive system Franson would be a lot more effective...as it is Wilson likes his dmen thinking offence and Franson gets caught in between. Wilson doesnt consider giving some the green light and others not..he just wants his guys pinching and pressing offence
