What sucks is three of them were UFA signings...
Komi atleast was playing well until he broke his arm.

I think Burke should only make trades and draft... f*(&^ UFA signings.
There would be like 15 mil in cap space... if he didnt' add those three.

- HipHopisDead

He did it to fill the roster while we developed our talent.

The good news is that because he refuses to sign them long term, all of their contracts are up at the end of next year!

Just think, Colborne and Frattin would have a roster spot to.

I thought we were talking about the future not the past.... IMO if Kessel gets traded and if someone who is not a top player takes his spot the team will have less production.

Look at the drop off after Sundin left?

- HipHopisDead

Uh yeah

1) The drop off was NOT as big as Sundin's goal output (it was less than half Sundin's last 3 seasons.

2) They did not replace Sundin with ANYBODY, and they still did not lose all his output.

3) When Kessel effectively replaced Sundin's goals... they offensive totals didn't spike.

Losing a guy does not automatically mean your goals for go down by that amount. It doesn't work that way and the stats do not support that arguement at all. Besides right after Sundin left, the total purge began...

The Montreal Canadiens are such a disaster of a team, they should move Subban and Price now before they lose their worth. Toronto can afford to give them back Komisarek and Grabovski plus a pick for Price. It would be wise for them to take the deal. If, however they believe Price is more of a gem and deserves more, they can also have Gus.

Let's assume for a minute we lose Kessel for nothing.

What if, we also had a solid #1 goalie by then. Also our young D will be 2 years more experienced. Also, Kadri may have finally matured, or Colborne, or McKegg or someone else they pick up in a trade...

You just can't take off one guy and immediately assume those goals are gone.

After Next year the make up of our team is like this.

???-???-Kessel
???-???-???
???-???-???
Brown-???-???

Phaneuf-???
Liles-Schenn
Gardiner-Komi

Reimer
????

Lots of room to play with to sign the pieces we want to keep, and to completely change around the pieces on forward that just aren't working... Still annoyed that we will have Komi for another year tho.

Apologies if someone said this already, but who would you rather have on your team? Grabo at 5.5/yr or Jeff Carter at 5.3/yr. Granted, JC's locked in for 9 years after this, but the way salaries are skyrocketing, that won't be so much in 5-6 years from now.

I say, put Grabo in a pkg for Carter, or use Grabo to recoup some futures required to land Carter. Sure beats watching Grabo walk.

Needless to say folks , it should and could be a very interesting next few days for both the Leafs and Sabres.

Enjoy and I am sure I will talk to you all soon

The one with the strap-on attached? Nah, weirdoh said he needed to borrow it, and haven't seen it since. I'm just going to wear my snake eyes costume from 1987 instead.

Colborne seemed to play fairly well when he was given the chance. I can't argue that he is ready because Im sure after the full NHL sched he would disappoint.

Still, if Connolly didn't have that spot automatically, Colborne or Kadri could be given rotation and some serious time playing for the big squad.
