Ek is claiming that Carter is a good winger... am I crazy or do I accurately remember Flyers fans wanting Carter to move to the wing and when they finally did it it was a disaster?

Carter was by no means a disaster at wing. He scored fairly well, but he's never going to be the muck and grind it out in the corner, physical winger. Just like he wasn't a physically dominant center despite his size. Not the same thing as being a failure at the position, at least not imo.

That said, I think he is more comfortable and happier playing center, which does raise the question of how LA intends to use them since they're already pretty deep at center.

Even if that doesnt happen Richards and Carter will still have another 5 years of trying (with those long term deals). I cant believe they took on those two contracts. They did need a scorer but maybe the asking price for Nash was too much for them.

LA has just paid Johnson, Simmonds, Shenn, a First and a second for Richards and Carter.

I'm not sure if they'll do much with Murray as the coach, but that team has a lot of pieces, and we all know how Carter and Richards CAN play, and I think they'll have good years there. They're still relatively young players. I can imagine LA being a big force if all the pieces they have perform up to snuff.

Why would LA make that deal? lol They would be downgrading in both positions...

I thin trading Voracek elsewhere to get the cap space and putting together something like a JvR and Draft picks type of deal to LA would make more sense. Give LA breathing room and they don't lose much and they get picks back (which they now have none in the first 3 rounds)
