I know everyone said Briere isn't going anywhere, but I think we really need to consider either getting him to waive his NTC clause this summer, or using the possible amnisty clause to buy him out. 6.5 million is just too much to be paying him. I would rather keep Jagr, Grossman, and maybe get Suter with that money.

This doesnt look so bad...

JVR-Giroux-Jagr
Hartnell-Schenn-Voracek
Read-Couturier-Simmonds
HarryZ/Sestito-Talbot-Rinaldo

Suter-Meszaros
Timonen-Coburn
Grossman-MAB

I really don't see Briere waiving his NTC. On many accounts, he's quite happy in this area.

Has has had a bumpy season thus far, but I don't want Briere moved at all. He quietly had a solid game in Winnipeg until he helped win it in the end. Dude always shows up big in the clutch, just like he did on Tuesday and throughout his playoff history. No way man. I am cool with Danny. Plus he is a sneakily nasty little bugger.

what a life tho...take a walk on the beach with Arnold, go for a little skate and workout, back home for some fetch on the beach with Arnold, hang out with your buddies, get plastered. Seems pretty relaxing.

Then its the amnesty IMO. I would give Briere the option first, say we can let you waive to go where you want and keep the current contract with the NMC, or we will buy you out in the amnesty... Briere might decide for the buyout to keep the money and go to anyteam, but he might not get a NMC or NTC...

If I had to buy out 1 contract it would be Prongers...

I would like Danny for about 4.5 mil, but not 6.5 for another 4 years, and one of those years is when Read, JVR, Giroux, and Meszaros will need new contracts... We have too much money commited for next season already, and have to over-haul the defense... 3 UFA's and 1 RFA... When we already have 4 strong Centers, Briere's cap hit becomes excessive IMO.

Guess he wasn't ready to be captain then. WTF did he think he was getting into when he accepted the C anyway. Goes with the territory in Philly. He saw it with Forsberg, Hatcher, and Smith. He had to have an idea of what it entailed.

Pronger gets LTIR'd... It only hurts our cap slightly during the offseason. No reason to buy that out... It would either be Bryz or Briere... and I'm afraid with the need to fix the defense its going to have to be one...

Danny isnt going anywhere, Id make a bet that Prongers get bought out. No reason to get rid of danny at all.

I wouldn't consider moving Briere at all. I don't even know why this is a thought. He makes his money in the playoffs. He has yet to disappoint in this area. If everyone played like he did in the playoffs, we'd have a cup every year. No if's and's or but's, there is no reason to move Briere right now.

Here comes the "But" though, right?

Maybe he didnt feel like he could say no. Like if your offered it once and refuse, then you will never be offered it again.... And he is/was Captain material, just too soon for him IMO.

I dont know if the Flyers are willing to let their best playoff performer go that easy. I know his numbers are not what they should be this year (regular season) but he is clutch come playoff time.

I don't get any situation where this is the choice. His money doesn't count against the cap during the season if he's unable to play.

Could get lucky, and there could be a clause in the new CBA for players like pronger. Then Amnesty bryz and sign him to a better contract or get a real good backup and roll with bob

Voracek will probably be looking around 3.5-4 million. Closer to the 4 mark imo.

He's valuable but I dont know if the Flyers can dish out that kind of money when they need it for the D.

Even if Jagr leaves I think one more top 9 forward will have to go. I dont want to make the D core weaker than it already is.

You can go 10% over the cap in the summer.

Not sure if anyone has menioned this yet, but....

The Flyers are 0-2 with a tie in their last three trips to Edmonton, having not won there since March 19, 2001.

almost 11 years since the Flyers won a game in Edmonton.

IF Voracek is seeking $4M per year I would let him walk. I was thinking he would get something close to $3M per year.

I doubt all of this. The Flyers have experience with these sort of situations with a lesser cap. After Mike Rathje got hurt, he was on the books for many season for 3 million plus. At the time, the cap was much loser then it is right now. None of this to be to worried about.
