That would be fine; as long as one of the prospects is NHL ready, or combined with more than one high draft pick in consecutive years. Prospects include Morin, Saad, and yes Jimmy Hayes would be nice.
- Ponyboy

Jimmy Hayes looks nice with an indian head on his chest.

6'6" 225 and fearless is not something you can teach. Jimmy is untouchable in my book.

Is that Henrik Sedin in the third row all the way on the right?
- coldsteelonice

I'm not sure...maybe it's Daniel!

After thinking about it, I'm going with Getzlaf being the big name center.

LMAO. I see the Hab fan is providing some wonderful entertainment for us this evening. Hayes is going nowhere...he provides the size we lack and can help NOW. I don't think Plekanec is the guy personally. Just a hunch.
- kwolf68

Sometimes humor gives you hope in times of frustration, glad you are getting a chuckle as well, it's keeping me afloat right now. Funny you think that of Pleks, personally I do not want to see him go from the Habs, but after reading JJ's blog I had the hunch this is who he might be speaking of. And yes I realize Hayes is a beast.

IF Pleks is the center Bowman is targeting, who would the hawks give up? How about Sharp straight up?

Lydman would be interesting, but he's got a year left at $3MM. Didn't think they'd be looking for a Dman with term past this year since it would make for a very expensive D corps next year.

I absolutely LOVE it when bloggers on Hockeybuzz says they can't "name" the player they heard a rumour about. Like if they say the name someone on the Hawks will be fored or something, lol. Makes me laugh everytime I read one of those. Why not just say "I have no clue what's going on so I'll just make something up to gain hits". Now before you flame me, please tell one thing that could possibly happen if someone named John Jaeckel named dropped a player on Hockeybuzz. Like a real, legitimate reason that could actually happen.

You can see what's availble on expiring conracts...

Lydman has a very fair contract.

He could play a 4-5 spot no problem 15-20 mins a game and can play the right side although a lefty.

Stamkos is a player that comes around every blue moon...I don't see him going anywhere! BTW, it would be a sight though...Kaner would be his younger St. Louis.

I wouldn't mind seeing them going after, wait for it.... P.K Subban. I bet that kid would bring some serious attitude and some serious blows to opposing offenses with his body frame. The fact that there are few black NHL Players would possibly the Hawks on the business side with a little diversity in the locker room. I can imagine Montreal would want a boat load, but seeing as that kid plays top defensive line minutes and the kid is only 22 I would let some of our future prospects go. I can imagine Montreal is looking for youth and some potential draft picks with a few good forwards and defense men coming through the draft. Any thoughts as to the Hawks pulling something in this direction and letting some of our farm talent go along with some draft picks as we already stacked ourselves last year and the year before? I cant remember the other kids name we have on defense in the minors that is not... Olsen. I thought we have another kid that should be good.

I do know that P.K. Subban is young and an absolute beast, but I suppose Montreal would deal for the right price. What are your thoughts JJ? Just curious since that kid would really set us up with a big banger on defense.

I wouldn't mind carter, but didn't he have some sort of injury this year that could be a little concern? I would rather go after Roy from the Sabres than him, but too each their own. Any thoughts would be great.

Thanks,

Ryan

It's protecting a source, plain and simple. JJ has been more than forthcoming with names once other people start chatting about these same rumors. He hasn't shown any propensity toward Ek style silliness, so maybe cut him some slack?

No idea how Chicago adds $8 mil in salary without moving a core player back. No way Anaheim takes Frolik, Olesz, a 1st and 2nd for Lydman and Getzlaf. Thinking Hjalmarrson, Frolik, Pirri, and Morin are gone with some high draft picks to even keep Anaheim on the phone. I would think Sharp/Bolland also would be asked for as part of the return

That is the name that makes the most sense out of all the speculation being thrown around here. Either him or Brassard. Getzlaf is probably a pipe dream, he would cost the hawks way too much.

I don't see the correlation.
