Which is why I stated earlier to bury him in the minors or send his butt to another planet to keep him off our books. His deal is only good for like two more years. And I bet Montreal would trade plekanic as well as Subban if they were able to get some of our talented Minor kids coming up in the next year. They took Lars off the blues hands for Halak, and Halak was a stud for them. - rynomw2369
Contract thru 13-14, but I can't imagine Rocky eating another contract right after the Huet deal ends...plus the Olesz situation.
But ya never know... |

Eklund just jinxed Montreal and Toronto out of a chance at Carter. Could Carter be our next game changing Center? Maybe StanBow promised Kane a new drinking buddy if he turned it on against the Wings last night. |

Whats going to be funny to watch, especially on this board is if Bowman doesn't pull a big trade off now and just adds some smaller pieces (which isn't a terrible thing) people are going to lambaste him..
JJ has everyones hype meter turned to 11..

Yup. I actually think they have some real nice complementary pieces as well with Leblanc, Kristo, Tinordi, Beaulieu and now Geoffrion. If they could deal one or two of Plekanec, Gionta and Kostitsyn either now or this off-season AND grab a top 5 pick this June, it might be the perfect time to rebuild MTL into the juggernaut the fans here deserve to see, not the mediocre mess it's been for 15 years. - andru2797
What makes Montreal fans any more deserving of a winner than other teams around the league? What's gone wrong, can't protect the 2 best junior players in Quebec any longer?
They have been mismanaged for years like Toronto and the results prove it. Players don't want to play there for a variety of reasons, coaches don't want to coach there, the media are generally idiots and Pierre Gauthier has no friends amongst his NHL GM brothers.
In other words, Montreal is a hockey sh$thole. Maybe Brian Burke could fix it. Oh, I forgot he doesn't speak French which is the first criteria for building a winner in the NHL. |

Major does not necessarily mean insane. No way adding that contract is a good idea, especially with Hossa and Keith already on the books for a lifetime. |

Even the idea of the potential trade that JJ is suggesting....swinging for the fences....goes against the argument and shows StanBo has some stones......you don't go after big deals unless you do......
And getting the approval to take on a bigger contract shows the mean man behind the curtain McD is not standing in the way of making the a deal to make the hawks cup ready........interesting.
Now we wait for the white smoke to be released from the madhouse on madison..... |

Now I'm 100% certain it's Plekanec. According to several sources Montreal is heavily involved in getting Carter. If they acquire Carter and with Gomez's salary they need to move someone (Plekanec). He also ticks all the boxes outlined in JJ's post. |

Remember do believe anything Eklund says or writes.....reading his blogs is more of a waste of time than trying to get a 5 year old to read Ivanhoe...........he is like a bad "deep throat"....... |

And again that speaks to what seems to be McD's biggest MO......he wants to win a Cup with his name all over it not a prior regime's. So they make a big splash and succeed(this year or next) who do think is gonna be behind it saying they gave Stan the OK to make a big move. |

Just stating the facts about the Montreal Canadiens. For years they were able to protect the 2 best junior players in Quebec. On top of that, Sammy Pollock would annually rip off the California Golden Seals and LA Kings for their top draft choices by dumping a couple of older players they didn't want anymore. That's how they built their dynasties but thats all over with now.
And to say Montreal fans deserve better like they are special and unique - what about the loyal and long suffering fans in Buffalo, St.Louis, Philadelphia and LA. I won't even mention Toronto?

In all seriousness?
What would you trade for the rental of Grabovski?
Stories out of Toronto say he's looking for 5.5mil per. After Ruutu's signing a 4.75 mil it isn't far fetched.
If that is the case I think Burke will unload Grabovski.
Chicago and Nashville are the likeliest places for him as a rental. |
