I do include season series in most cases. Home and away records will be included starting next game.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Parise looked injured at the time and he's their Captain. Was a clean hit in terms of the actual hit but it was late.
- Todd.Cordell

i cant recall the timing of the hit, would have to look back at it but it wasnt one of those you stand up and be like WTF

i just dont like how the nhl has turned into big hit = fight, doesnt matter if someone laid out kessel if it was clean.... no reason to fight. Just get him back or line up their best player with a good hit.

Thats how we did it when I played.

I recall early in the season when Dion was saying how much he hates that after a big hit, the guy delivering the hit always has to fight after it. It reminded me of this last night but at the same time, he’s been guilty of it just as many times. Not long ago Foligno hit him, and somewhat low (I’ll toss it out as being just as much a bad thing as his hit on Parise) and Dion went after Foligno later on and forced him to fight. A rarity for Foligno, for sure, but he ended up fairing quite well against the Leaf captain. I don’t have as much hate for Phaneuf as many in my fan base but I do find him quite hypocritical in this regard.

I’m actually of the same opinion as him in that it is odd that after big hits, the guy usually gets jumped, clean or not. I just find it funny that he has never practiced what he preached.

Foligno ducked as Phaneuf is about to hit him, that's a little different..

I agree. Just saying there would be no deeper team in the NHL if they acquire Hemsky and stay healthy.
- Todd.Cordell

I know he's a play-maker but he only has 5 goals this year and is on the same level as Havlat in injury proneness. I wouldn't even trade a second round pick for the guy and they'll likely want a pick in the first round or a mid-second rounder plus a prospect. We don't need any forward additions but we do need an experienced top 4 puck-moving defenseman. Cody Franson, Zidlicky, Spacek, or Oduya would be the guys I would consider to be the wisest choices of who is potentially available and for what it would cost the Devils to acquire them. (I know Franson isn't overly experienced however the Leafs have a crowded blueline, he is exactly the type of player the Devils need, and I think Schenn would likely cost too much.)

Franson would likely cost a first. He's as good as Quincey and younger...

Todd,
The feel is that most are luke-warm, at best, on Hemsky. What do you think the asking price to NJ from Edm would be?...and what would YOU be willing to give for him. Thanks

He scored most of them on the 3rd line. He does play first unit PP, though.

I think they want a 1st round pick or a 2nd and a good prospect. Not sure where or when he'll be dealt but I'd be surprised if he stays in Edmonton.

That hit by Foligno was simliar to Marchand's hit on Salo.

i didnt like that fight between phaneuf and clarkson

dont get me wrong if someone throws a dirty hit i think he should have to answer the bell... but phaneuf just hit him ,nothing too dirty. What happened to taking the guys number and hitting him when he has his head down?

- nightmare3020

I was late and looked dirty. It looked like Phaneuf's elbow came into Parise's face. That's what Clarkson sees, and he decides to step up for Parise like he should, after all, the players essentially are trying to do everything they can to make Parise stay. You see Marty saying Parise is a top priority over himself, and Kovalchuk say how he wants Parise to sign long-term so he can play with him for years to come, yada yada.

Palmieri and a 2nd. If we can sucker EDM's GM, maybe Corrente and a second.

I would say a decent prospect, like a guy who will be a solid third-liner, maybe average second liner, and the same thing, on defense, a solid number 4, could fill-in as a number 3, and a second.

I'm okay with that. I love the draft and would like to see the Devils pick up some young talent but I think the Devils might end up picking in the 25-30 range and the only player I would really miss the Devils not getting the chance to draft is Martin Frk and he might not even be available then.
I would do that deal to secure Franson. Plus, the Devils have 2 second rounders so they'll get at least a decent prospect in the draft for us to look forward to. Samuelsson, Hudon, Sissons, and Kosmachuk are all guys who I think could suit the Devils well and could be drafted anywhere in the 20-50 range.

Devils won't trade 1st. They have to forfeit either this years or next. Lou would be stupid to trade this years and make forfeit next year's no matter what they seed.

If we make the playoffs and go to the second round or ECF or further, he will forfeit this years pick.

Considering value, and the fact that the Devils won't trade their first, as I said above, maybe Palmieri+2nd+4th would secure Franson.

Palmieri seems like a player Burke would like.

I don't think we should touch the offense. remember, when zajac comes back, it's like getting a stud center at the deadline for the playoff push.

parise - henrique - kovy
sykora- zajac - elias
ponikarovsky - zubrus - clarkson
boulton - josefson - bernier

STACKED at center all the way through. Now look at the wings. Line 1-3 we are also stacked.

Every member of our top three lines could finish the season with 20 or more goals, minus Zajac due to Injury. The way Ponikarovsky is playing he can also hit 20. CRAZY

monster let in 3 horrid goals.

remove them and it was leafs > devils.

just the way the cookie crumbles in crumbletown...

pretty decent game to watch, back n fourth w OT victory..shootouts are ultra lame in the big picture. just sayin..

- big_dion

It was an even game.

The Leafs came out flying and the Devils couldn't create because of it, but we just played good defensively and waited. You can't play at that pace for a full 60 minutes, whether you want to or not. We got our break on Sykie's goal. The rest of the goals might not have been great, but the Devils had just as many chances as the Leafs. Kovalchuk, Parise, and Henrique all had partial breakaways.

The Clarkson goal was a sneaky play by him. Not a good goal for Gus, but it was a tricky play and hard play to stop. On Poni's goal, Franson hit Gus in the face with his stick, and Gus like tried to look over it, and when he moved his legs up, it went high five-hole.

The last goal was just hysterical.

Carter-Josefson-Bernier.

Then we will have, Carter, JJ, Poni, Zubrus, Zajac, Elias, Kovy, Henrique, and Parise all killing penalties.
