Miller was in the zone up till the one goal he fell a sleep on.No way that goal should of gone in.Id still like to see Miller moved but it means going after a another goalie in seperate deal and maybe in the draft as well in my opinion..Enroths not a starting goalie.
- buffalo 1

If Miller is indeed moved it definitely should not be for another established goalie. You are moving him for cap reasons or if lucky a center.

If you read what I typed , I said Roy may not be moved. I said some team like Washington and or Calgary would have to step up large for Roy.

I know he has time left on his contract , doesnt everyone ?

If we fall out of the top five in the draft and trade Roy were in trouble at Center.Im thinking more and more he may not get traded.

b0s........ Do you understand who would be making those picks if they tanked? No doubt Darcy would screw up any High draft choice. And besides.. I would not want any team I support tanking.... That is just not how to play the game....
- rapperray

darcy let something slip in his gr interview last week...

he refered to kevin devine as assistant general manager/director of amateur scouting...

i like devine...

if they played drew macintyre the rest of the season, would you consider that tanking?

Doesnt have to be an established guy but a young back up or prospect goalie maybe in a seperate deal.Either way we cant deal Miller thinking Enroth is the answer in goal and we are dangerously low in goal tender depth and talent as it is.

point taken, but...

it's been said all season that any center can play between vanek and pommer...ennis seems like a good #2...

if you could get a good return for roy, why not do it now?

I didn't love the Sabres lineup before the year but I didn't think it was going to play out like it has.
- Gunner Staal

What can you do about injuries? And before you go the whole 'Pittsburgh has injuries' route, no one is trying to claim this team is anything close to what the Penguins are. I did a nice long post in the last blog about this. When the Sabres roster featured 89-100% (0-2 injuries) of their opening day squad they are 17-9-2. They are where they are because of the abundance of injuries they had to key players.

the philadelphia flyers have ditched the goaltending roulette wheel in favor of a clear #1...it hasn't worked out like they wanted it to, but it's a change in philosophy

If you realize that the pieces that we have put together aren't good enough. Why wouldn't you move the pieces that you can and improve your ability to pick up new pieces? Especially in a seller's market. Make smart trades. Don't fleece your peers. Make your team better.

Well the best young backups/prospects are stuck behind #1 guys, like Bernier and Scheider. Those teams won't want Miller nor should they.

Miller isn't an easy move because most teams don't want that cap hit at the goalie position.

Im not sure Ennis is the answer at center just yet but also you still have a void to fill at number one or two if you deal Roy.Whos out there that we could realistically get or whos better then Roy even in a down year ?Especially if we keep climbing in the standings and fall out of the top 5 in the draft ?

Definitely a lack of center depth, but it was our defensive injuries that killed us. They overvalued Gragnani by a lot. Weber has been better lately but he was horrific for stretches earlier in the year. You're not going to win many games when those guys are in your top pair.

Can't do anything about injuries. Just hope there are depth players in the minors that can help keep the ship from sinking.
