Schenn + Kadri + Gus + Prospects/Picks for Miller.

Id be MUCH MORE happy with that than any of the proposed trades so far

In a heartbeat...too bad they'd never do that in a 100 lifetimes with their rival

I appreciate a good response, so thank you. Most people around here just bash other posters with little to no knowledge.

I do think Carter's cap hit is quite manageable, so we agree there....its the term that scares me. If you get into a situation where he gets a bad injury in the next few years, but not bad enough for him to retire, you end up with this MASSIVE question mark every summer/fall waiting to see if your #1 guy will play. Dipietro is the perfect example there.

As for not playing on the same line as Kessel, i agree it is possible, but since we need a big-body center to play against the likes of Malkin, Crosby, Getzlaf, etc...Carter would have to be the 1st line center. Most likely it means we have to consider Kessel/Lupul on second line...which means less minutes and less shots.

Not an impossible scenario by any means BUT can you do that at the deadline or are you better off making a drastic change like this in the off-season? My feeling is that if we want playoffs, you wait till the offseason.

Finally, Carter would come MUCH cheaper than what you have there....Columbus wants to dump him bad it seems so Schenn, Mcarthur + 1st would be enough.

Theres a very good chance of an amnesty clause in the next CBA.. if thats the case I'd do the deal in a second.

also, adding 1 tablespoon of water to a "dram" of scotch would give you about 3/4 of an ounce of slightly scotch tasting water
- Big_Lightnin

Not trying to 'out Scotch' you here, mate, ok? I have no idea how many ounces a 'dram' is to be honest....I used that term to refer to a healthy glass of scotch with some water in it.

Nice collection. Right now Ive got:

Glenmorangie 10 yr. (not a huge Speyside fan, but I do like this one)
Laphroaig 12 yr.
Talisker 12 yr. (yum)
Bowmore 12 yr. (my staple)
Balvenie Double Wood (a gift, haven't opened it yet)
Lagavulin 16 yr. (got this for my birthday last week)

I'm, for the most part, an Islay guy, but I do like trying lots of different malts. Any others you would suggest?

- triggermartin

Oban you would like given what you've got there. Talisker is nice.

Glengoyne is one I've been looking for but haven't found. They have a 10yr that's ok, but the 17yr is heaven. A buddy had this years ago and was one of the first really good scotches I'd ever had.

ya sorry that was female dogy of me

used to do a bit of reading on it and some of the writer's throw that word around a lot without knowing what it actually refers to.

So now I get to be snooty - dram is thought to be a "serving" which in a sense is true, so many assume it means a "glass" or an ounce of scotch, but it actually refers to a "sip" rather than a glass of scotch. It's about an 1/8 of an ounce, or the amount one should take per sip of good scotch - small enough so that the flavours coat the tongue thinly allowing you to taste all of the scotch.

I've heard the price on Lavavulin has gone down recently at the LCBO used to be $125, think it's under $110 now. I'll have to confirm that soon

Anybody who makes deals on assumption that CBA might have a Gomez clause is crazy. PA would fight it and not all teams would support it.

PA would not fight it. PA would love it - just like the old CBA.

Players get bought out - meaning players get free money. They also get unrestricted free agency, so they are free to sign another contract.

Owners love it because it allows them to forget some mistakes.

Both sides love it.

Just like last time.

Its not so much that ice 'waters down' good scotch - it just freezes your taste buds, and kills the taste. In fact, most Scotch experts actually advocate adding about a tablespoon of water to a dram of any good malt, whatever the age - it releases the vapours, and that swirling effect you get when the water mixes with the natural oils in the whiskey which the Scots call 'the serpent'.
