Absolutely. When's the last time you saw a beat writer criticize Claude Giroux for a defensive breakdown? Giroux suck up for Bryzgalov and Bobrovsky, and got none of the heat JvR did for doing the same thing.

That's part of it. The whole "Skip Bayless" transformation of the media. It can't simply be written in a newspaper or stated on TV or the radio that a guy had a bad game. He sucks.

Black and white sells. Shades of gray do not.

- Jsaquella

Yep, no player ever has a bad game. He sucks, or he doesn't suck.

I think that's a little bit of a different conversation. Some of the same elements, but the market demands and expectations for national media aren't the same as their local counterpart. But for now, I need to break shortly to make some dinner.

I have seen Iggles fans do the most heinous, horrendous things. With them it is not a case of "it happens in every city". Iggles fans are a different type of fan. The problem is, Iggles fans wear it as a badge of honor.

I have seen them throw beers on small children wearing another teams jersey. I have seen them in roving gangs beating up women in opposing teams jerseys. I once saw a Iggles fan throw a full 3 liter bottle of Pepsi at another teams fan from 30 rows up. I saw them pummel a security guard with snowballs, and them pummel the guard himself when he tried to take the person who hit him out of the stadium.

I used to have season tix (my dads) and finally could not go anymore because they were animals. God help you if they lost the game. because then windows are getting smashed, tires slashed, people beat up etc etc etc. Every damn week.

Again, you can take offense if I described you in any of these actions. But I hope not. I also hope you aren't one of those who thinks the stuff I described is against people who "deserve it" because they root for another team. Because believe me, I heard that excuse all of the time.

oh it happens there i aint gonna say it doesnt im not those people...sure ill heckle for fun but ive never got in fight, ive seen em.... ill agree its ridiculous... however went to a NY in NY seen the same stuff is it as bad as philly heck no.. i took offense cause you grouped an entire fan base together.. like i said u can root any team u choose thats your right

Fair enough.

I have been to Iggles games in New York, Miami, Tampa, Atlanta, Baltimore, Washington, New England, Buffalo, Cleveland, and Green Bay. The fans are all passionate, and will give you some business for being for the other team, but they are not habitual line crossers like Iggles fans. The fact of the matter is, it was the Iggles fans that were the trouble makers at every single game I have seen, even on the road. It made me sad.

Flyers fans are not like that. But sometimes I see the seeds.....

You're right, there are some of the best sports fans (and people in general) I know are Eagles fans. They don't deserve to be lumped in. It's unfortunate.

Also, I'm not using the word "they" to exclude you

That's what I mean though. Giroux blew a coverage in the Sabres game, on the first goal. Immediately on twitter, at least two of the beat writers blamed the defensemen. Neither defenseman had blown coverage, and in fact had their men tightly marked.

Giroux was standing in the low slot, a good 8 feet from his guy.

Getting heat for sticking up for teammates. Does this not sound crazy to anyone?

has bryz played up to his contract thus far-NO
i do support him in the fact of the decision of the owner and gm of th flyers to bring him here, im hopinh he does get on a roll...he did not play good last night despite the win, he had some nices saves and showed some signs.

i cannot believe and have never seen such pathetic display of the media as i did tonight from the entire csn philly network, i was ready to puke with all the bashing and witch hunt attitude they displayed for bryz....they dont pay his check and if it werent for the team those a$$ clowns wouldnt have a job...lisa hillary, john boruk and barkann should be ashamed of themselves, i feel embarassed from in which the manor they conducted on national tv.

I AM SERIOUS, I HOPE SOMEBODY REPRIMANDS ALL OF THEM, the guy is having a rough year and they want to pick his personality to shreds...

awful
