I'm sorry about that. But at least in my world, I don't go to games any more because I cant stand other Flyers fans. At least the ones in the building. All they yell is SHOOT! And "drop the gloves!" and all sorts of retarded things with no regard to what is happening on the ice. Most of them have never gotten out of 1975. Its like it was passed down to them from their elders.

You should know by now I'm with you on this 100%. It isn't all fans, to be fair. There are still thoughtful fans here. They're not perfect, reserved, instantly informed, robotically logical, but they exist. It just seems to me that the majority of fans (not necessarily the grand majority, but a majority) want this kind of crap. They want binary opinions handed to them in the form of controversy. The biggest market for sports reporting is black and white, who's clutch and who's not, cast the blame type material. And it Seravalling sucks.

At least, that's my take on it.

You do hear about the idiots in other cities. There's a loud segment of Philly fans that seem to embrace that role, though. They think that praying for a struggling guy to get hurt is "tough love". They revel in the viciousness.

We're all passionate fans and we all get frustrated at times. My own outlook as a fan was changed, in a lot of ways, by the run in 2010. I decided to try to see the positives whenever possible, and I find myself enjoying the games a lot more-and even the conversations with friends afterward.

The weird thing is that I would have thought that people in here would understand and know that for the most part they are not a part of the rabble. Yet they take offense, when they should be agreeing. Take offense because they know that I am talking about them. the reality of it is that they should have the same opinion I do. We are a better breed of fan than that rabble that boos a shutout or a save by THEIR goalie.

That is what I dont get.

I can still be critical and, yes, even boo when warranted, but now I have no problem switching to another game if the Flyers lose. I used to not be able to watch other games after a Flyers loss.

So instead of watching another game, I'd end up watching a movie or something.

Strange, all the games I've gone to I've never felt the urge to boo.

I have no choice but to root for whomever has our sweater on & I do, & I hate hearing at work, after a loss, "oh your bums lost again", (8 rookies in the lineup? really? bums?), but, yes, some points I do see, but I do not "counter rip" every media member that has an opinion, as I do feel, despite their place in the media, a few do know the game.

oh, and I'm not a retard by the way

I understand wanting to stand up for your fellow Philadelphia fan. They're our friends, co-workers, and neighbors. They wear the same logo. It shouldn't be an "us versus them" type thing, but it swiftly becomes that when the sports media market comes into discussion. It's unfortunate.

The whole "crap media" situation conjures to memory that dreadful Daily News commercial during the Flyers radio broadcasts, with the "super fans". "All the dirt behind the scenes, all the hype you can handle!" If somebody actually said that to me, I'd probably tell them to grow up.

That's part of it. The whole "Skip Bayless" transformation of the media. It can't simply be written in a newspaper or stated on TV or the radio that a guy had a bad game. He sucks.

Black and white sells. Shades of gray do not.

I have seen Iggles fans do the most heinous, horrendous things. With them it is not a case of "it happens in every city". Iggles fans are a different type of fan. The problem is, Iggles fans wear it as a badge of honor.

I have seen them throw beers on small children wearing another teams jersey. I have seen them in roving gangs beating up women in opposing teams jerseys. I once saw a Iggles fan throw a full 3 liter bottle of Pepsi at another teams fan from 30 rows up. I saw them pummel a security guard with snowballs, and them pummel the guard himself when he tried to take the person who hit him out of the stadium.

I used to have season tix (my dads) and finally could not go anymore because they were animals. God help you if they lost the game. because then windows are getting smashed, tires slashed, people beat up etc etc etc. Every damn week.

Again, you can take offense if I described you in any of these actions. But I hope not. I also hope you aren't one of those who thinks the stuff I described is against people who "deserve it" because they root for another team. Because believe me, I heard that excuse all of the time.
