In the midst of Pelle Lindbergh's disastrous second season in the NHL, he did a tongue-in-cheek interview with Gene Hart (which aired on TV), which Hart intended to lighten the mood and Pelle being Pelle played along with.

I suppose he (and Hart) shouldn't have been joking about it, either. Or maybe they were being serious, right? The interview went like this:

"OK, here we have Pelle Lindbergh,” Hart begins. “Pelle, you’ve won 248 consecutive games for the Flyers.”

“Yaaah, that’s true,” Lindbergh replies.

“But now you really stink, with eight goals against in every game.”

“Yaaah, forgive me.”

“Well, now the Flyers have traded you to the Colorado Rockies.”

“Yaaah, thanks a lot.”

The Colorado Rockies no longer even existed by this point, having already relocated to New Jersey and become the Devils.

The stupidity drove away many of the posters who actually have a grasp of hockey.

People need to lighten up nowadays. So much anger. I sense the dark side in them.

That is pretty funny.

The problem with Barkann is that ever since he went to WIP he feels the need to become this bomb thrower ala TMZ. He is trying to "out Cataldi" Cataldi, and trying to "out dumb" Monkeyboy Gargano.

Its a violation all right. A violation of my sanity.

Lastly, any reason why we don't see this starting 6 being back next year? Assuming Pronger is retired, Carle can receive his expected raise. And once Timonen's contract expires, he will retire or likely sign a more cap-friendly contract. At that point, we have his cap-hit available to sign a guy-of-the-future. I don't see a NEED to go after a Suter this year, unless our D looks horrible down the stretch. I think we may be set for the forseeable future...

- steelydan

Assuming Pronger was retired would mean you assumed his full cap hit would count against the cap for the duration of the contract. What I will assume you'd mean if you understood that is that if Pronger cannot play and is placed on LTIR...

I'd really love to know where people get the idea the Rangers have been healthy all year. You don't remember Staal being out from the beginning to Jan 2 and again recently? You don't know Sauer is out, maybe for the season.

Staal was a pretty important piece to be lacking for them to be near the top of the heap when he got back.

- bodiva88

I'll give u staal but Sauer cmon... if your gonna sit here and say there healthy compared to the flyers thats just ridiculous... they have been healthy for most of the season how many games have Callahan, Gaborik Richards, Del Zotto, Stepan, Boyle, Mcdonagh, Boyle,Girardi Prust... 0 games all of those guys have missed 0 games Dubinsky has missed 3 and Anisomov 1

This may be way Leight as I heard it yesterday.
But it was very upsetting so forgive me if its already been talked about.

Al Morganti was on the XM radio NHL show and Boomer Gordon asked him, jokingly,
if there was a day that went by that didn't have a JVR being traded rumor.

Morganti replied that he seriously believed that JVR will be traded, if not now then certainly in the off season.

His reasoning was that the rookies have played so much better then expected, making JVR somehow expendable.

It really made me ill thinking about it, as Morganti seems to be somewhat in the know on these things.

JVR is a guy who can alter the game when he is on. Like Giroux.

And we all saw how G can have cold streaks.
JVR is the perfect player to carry the team (in the future) when Giroux has one of these cold streaks.

I hate the thought they have given up on him and that he will be traded.

Morganti is almost as big a dope as the rest of them. He should stick to sounding like a clown on the morning show..

Cataldi can make anyone sound like a clown by Proxy. Even Keith Jones sounds like a hockey idiot when he is being led along by those dips.

I agree. Bernie used to poke fun at himself a lot during his slumps -- and he had a few pretty significant ones in his HHOF career -- such as showing off his his graying hair and announcing "Hey, it's gotten so bad, I think some of 'em are turning black again!"

Bernie could joke about it. Pelle could joke about it. What's wrong with Bryzgalov joking about the "support" he got in Winnipeg, especially after a Flyers win? It's totally harmless and actually can be a GOOD way to loosen up some of the tension.

The whole Bryz-bashing thing -- and not just him, it's the same with many other targets-- has taken on such a mean-spirited and callow nature to it, that it reflects worse on those who take constant pot shots or lower themselves to "you won't believe what he said NOW" kind of sensationalism.

It's hockey, for crying out loud. Everyone knows Bryzgalov is struggling on the ice, including the player himself. But it isn't life or death.
