i think it's great we bump players like bourdon and gusty back to the AHL

they're not crap but they need more time to develop as defenseman and rushing them would only hurt them

I'm really getting irritated with this Philly looking for goalie rumors. We need a big, faceoff winning, penalty killing machine.

Gustaud would round things out nicely.

Without gutting the team's youth and salary cap? What do you propose? And replacing 3 or 4 players with 1 player still leaves vacancies; how do we fill those as well?

Is Grossman the first d-man to wear #8 since marsh?
- hammarby31

Numerous people have noted Walker by now. I believe Michel Petit also wore 8 during brief time here, as did Rory Fitzpatrick. Grossman is the first regular starting six guy since Murray Baron and, before him, Marsh.

I was hoping one or both could play solid enough to stick. It did become somewhat obvious that wasn't going to happen. I hope one or both are able to make and stick with the big club for at least a few seasons down the road.

Kubina is essentially 35 now. It will be very interesting to see what happens with him in the off season. That's assuming he plays solid the rest of the way. Same for Grossman but he's only 27 and makes less. I think Homer really tries to re-sign him if he stays steady.

JVR Carle 1st

Nash > JVR at any point of JVR's career going forward

Carle walks at the end of the season so might as well cut losses

1st is a throw in to thank clb for giving us voracek and couturier

Judging by Kubina's interview, he seemed personally offended when Tampa traded him. He also mentioned staying in Philly after this year. He *could* just be playing the right cards as an impending FA, but something tells me that he doesn't like change and just wants to keep things normal (perhaps he's a family guy?) That being said, he may be willing to accept a cap-friendly deal here.

As for Grossman? Who knows. Young and deserving of a raise, you never know what could happen. Add in Carle's instability, and we need to keep one (or both) of Grossman and Carle.

Lastly, any reason why we don't see this starting 6 being back next year? Assuming Pronger is retired, Carle can receive his expected raise. And once Timonen's contract expires, he will retire or likely sign a more cap-friendly contract. At that point, we have his cap-hit available to sign a guy-of-the-future. I don't see a NEED to go after a Suter this year, unless our D looks horrible down the stretch. I think we may be set for the forseeable future...

He would but I would also settle for Jarrod Stoll. If I understand right, Stoll is good friends with Scott Hartnell. Hartnell golf for Stoll's charity event every year in Alberta if i'm not mistaken.

If Grossman is re-sign, please ship Lilja out. I don't hate the guy and I understand his cap hit is cap friendly but from my understanding so is Gus and Burdon's cap hits. Why waste the contact slot? With Lappy, Leighton and Betts coming off the books, that's a pretty big deal but sadly we're left with Pronger's (no offense to the big guy).

Stoll is a career -11 I believe. Might want a little better.
